This was taken by the friend of one of my neighbours yesterday, in the town of Angus, about half an hour drive away from home. Just a little too close for comfort! Luckily, there were no fatalities, and no serious injuries, but there was wide spread damage over South-Central Ontario as several twisters did touch down. Lots of fun!

Always be ready Mike. Never know where or when one of those storms may hit.
Seeing those homes stuffed together makes me happy to be living in a mobile home on five acres. We may be trailer trash but we have room to roam and play with our old cars.

I'm just far enough south that we don't get these much here in Austin, but go north towards Waco and Dallas and LOOK OUT.

Only seen one in my life personally, but my parents high school in Jonesboro Arkansas was totally destroyed by one back in the 70's. Scary Stuff!!

    Twisters too close?

Keep your fingers crossed Mike. The corner of 1431 and 183 where you guys hold the car shows all the time? There used to be an Albertsons standing on the corner 'til the summer of '98 (I think it was) Wife and I were visiting friends in Leander that afternoon and evening and saw the before and after on that one in the same day. WAY TOO SPOOKY, Jer

Back where I am from in central Illinois tornados seemed to follow a path down the Illinois river and across an area just south of our town. Often the next little town was nearly wiped out by tornados. Once during PE at our highschool that town 10 miles south got a tornado and we could see it headed there.
I remember pictures of tornados in that town where odd things happened. A long piece of straw was imbedded into a telephone pole and stuck out the other side. Metal in tree trunks. There were other strange things like that. Our friends in the country had miniature horses. One was found months later on another farm miles away, unharmed but with a funny look on his face I'm sure.
I also saw several smaller tornados as I drove down central Illinois highways. Didn't know it at the time but was actually in the edge of a large one that hit the Plainfield, Illinois area as I drove a tractor trailer to the Aurora Cat plant. Saw semis, cars, buildings, etc. blowing across the fields. Being a car guy one thing sticks with me. There was a 55 or so Chrysler with the hemi sitting next to it for years. Saw the car miles away and the engine along the highway even farther from the farm where it had been.
Not counting those dust devils, I remember small tornados going across fields. We've only had one small tornado here. We lost a lot of tree tops and that's about all. But only a few 100 feet west very large trees were downed.

The most God awful scene I've ever looked at in my entire life took place on my birthday, May 27th of '97 just north of you in the little town of JARRELL, TX. Pull that one up on your 'puter and look at some of devastation in the pix shown. I started transporting 20' and 40' storage containers into Jarrell on the 28th, the day after that one hit to be used by home owners to collect and store what they could find and salvage on free loan from the Southwest lift co. of S.A. that was my employer at that time.(Austin location of SWL is out on 290 east) I picked up the last one of the I think 34 of those "Cans" a little more then a year later. That class 5 wind sucked the asphalt rite off the streets in that poor little town and took close to 3 dozen kids 'n folks to meet the Lord that day and that was about 10% of the entire population of Jarrell. One woman I met a few days after that storm had taken a 1/2 mile long ride in her bathtub while it was airborne and never got a scratch. Jer
