Very interesting to see a European car show, as drivers are just as enthused about their own daily driver cars as well as American Iron. You don't see many European cars at American shows, if at all. That 1800 with the 5-cylinder is a very cool restomod; does it run afoul of emission standards over there?

The 1800 is registerd as a modified vehicle, over here we need a inspection and new registration on modified cars.. With that hp and torque rise you will need to modify brakes, and suspension to get it legal.. Emissions are no concern on a car older than -75 here..

The monaco is kind of a interesting story.. It was wrecked, and put in a scrapmetal pile about 20 years ago, but was never handed over to the fragmentation mill, for some reason. Some youngsters found it last year, and made it back to the streets.. This winter there was a gang fight, and there opponents set the car, and the club hangout on fire.. The car was totally burned out, all glass, interior, electrical and aluminum was gone.. The body had twisted so bad that the new windshield just wouldnt fit in the opening, but these kids (18 - 21 yo) have put it back on the streets again, all new electrical system, suspension, engine, trans, some glass (heavily modified) and interior.. I guess just to piss there rivals off:) Some customtricks was added, as the doors open kind of funny, so do the trunk, and hood.. Airbags, of course, and a little funnier engine was added as a little twist..

I personally think they should put some energy and all that money on there good cars, but this genre of swedish car culture is kind of big. Even i had an old electra that looked like **** when i was younger..

No, not all swedes are criminal alcoholics and like to fight just cuz we are bored, but the winters ARE kind of long here, and we DO have lots, and lots of moonshiners in every little village:pub:

Thanks for the story on the Monaco. It may not look great to us but those kids did something amazing.

    Great write-up, lowlow!

I was a bit intrigued by the VW K70 (found out it was actually a NSU design, and the first front-engine, front-drive, water-cooled VW) VW took over NSU in 1969. Also found this hatchback/wagon model, called the Variant:

The K70 never made it to the states.....
