Hi from Pueblo, CO. I'm looking to buy a wagon, late 50s to early 70s, very good to excellent. Prefer low miles, mid-size, no black or red, AT, AC, full power, light interior. No projects or eastern cars please. Under $15K. Thanks.
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home! That is quite the list you have for a wagon, I must say! For A/C in these cars, you are almost certainly looking for a car from the South or Southwest, as very few from the North, no matter how well equipped, had air, assuming it was even available. That alone is going to limit your search to cars from the 60s almost exclusively. The mid-sized also excludes the 50s completely, as there were no mid-sized cars of any body style! The Ramblers were pretty much compact, and the Hudsons and Nashes, not to mention Studebakers and Packards are either compact or 'standard' sized, as they were called. Automatic is not much of a concern, at least. Then you add full power equipment. That certainly eliminates most, if no all, of the mid-sized cars in that entire age range. Quite simply, full power was seldom ordered on a mid-sized car, assuming that power windows and power door locks were even offered. They were not all that common on the full sized cars, right through the 70s! Check out the Craigslist/auctions threads, and see what I mean. By the 70s, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power locks and power front seat were offered on most, but certainly no all, of the mid- and full-sized cars, but it is amazing how many high end wagons, such as Country Squires, Colony Parks, and even Oldsmobile Custom Cruisers and Buick Estate Wagons offer power steering and power brakes with crank windows, manual locks, and even manual tail gates on the clam shell G.M.s. Good luck with the hunt, and we'll be certain to try to help! We're great at spending OPM!
This may be a bit newer than you were wanting, but the price seems good for a very nice wagon, and Lord knows this one has ALL the power options! The price is also WAY below your max budget, too. It is also the size of a 70s mid-sized wagon. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31656 Worth taking a look, that's for sure.
aboard Dave. Sounds like you know what you are looking fo???is there history here...to the wagon that your looking for?
