How did your dad come to pick this amazing car for you? He's had it for a few years. He just bought a 33 Ford Coupe and needed to thin his heard. He was going to sell but decided to give it to me instead.
Thanks for all the comments guys. He's done a lot to it since he first got it. A few details: SBC 350/TH350 Trans Cruise Control Vintage Air Fully Re-wired New Carpet New 7 speaker jl audio stereo Needs a little paint work(had some rust repair done to the lower tailgate) Needs a little suspension work(rubs when cornering) Needs all new glass It's pretty much an above average daily driver from my experience with other cars/trucks, but it wouldn't take much to make it outstanding.
Value... Hmmmmmmm If my dad gave me a 'gift' like that, I'd have a heart attack. Sounds like you are wanting to sell it, and I sure wish I had the jack to take it off of your hands, but yeah... I'd say that thing has to be worth north of $25k. Naturally, I'm going to over-research the hell out of the question, because I want to know. That is one nice example... Like everyone else around here, I'd keep it until the choice was to move my family into it or sell it to keep a roof and eat. Welcome and thanks for the copious pics!
Mr. Parks.. Here's a girl in Laguna Beach and they're wanting $23,500 neg. in Hemmings. Man, that seems like a damned bargain for these things. Like yours, it just looks brand spanking new. Good luck, whatever you decide. Kristi
Yours appears to be cleaner than the one for sale in Hemmings. If you sell, can you tell us what she fetched? Yours looks clean enough for a Mecum auction. Kristi
I'd really like to keep it and drop an LS in it and redo the paint and suspension but I've already got a 72 Chevy C10 that is a week or two away from being completely restored, then I have a 98 Chevy 1500 that I want to turn into an autocross truck. My only knock that pushed me towards selling is it won't get the attention it deserves. As of right now it's sitting in the garage and I don't plan on it going anywhere.
No argument there. I've sold cars I've loved and perfected. Priority projects win, and we can't keep them all (at least most of us can't). Plain and simple. Good luck! Super curious where your '54 ends up. Keep us posted and - '72 Chevy? That's a favorite of mine. Post pics in the thread sometime, if you don't mind and have the time. Everyone here is nuts about cars, in general. Thanks
Welcome to the nuthouse we call Home. That is one FANTASTIC wagon you have there. Doesn't look like it needs very much attention at all, and once you get to driving her, you may find that you enjoy her, too. These are great cars, and it sounds like this one has had the big things done that will allow you to use her regularly. Not being perfect is a good thing, since it means that you can use her, and not worry about the little wear that shows up no matter how careful you are. What ever you do decide eventually, be sure to USE the old girl, and get to know her. She may surprise you no end. Have fun around here, and as mentioned, we're all a bit car nuts, so be sure to post pics of the rest of the herd!
That's a great looking truck. Yes, many of us know we can't have or keep everything. As already written as long as you have the wagon stored safely give this some time. It's not easy getting rid of a toy and this one is special to you and your family. Good luck.
