anyone know of any late 80's-91 Colony Parks for sale in the south east? ive checked Craigslist for a while, nothing. There is one locally for $3750 and i think hes crazy... id give him $1000 for it, even though its a really nice car, hes way out of line on that price for our area.
I don't know what year it is, Jase, but you are in rust free country there and if that car is real nice...well...that seems to be around what they're goin' for now days. But...I know what you mean...these wagons have gone WAY up lately. Part of the reason is because of the younger crowd making them into donks...unfortunately. There's been a few real nice ones lately on Ebay (hate ebay) but the owners are holdin' out for big bucks on those too. Some of them were real nice cars though.
i just dont understand people paying way more than they are worth. i see things i like all the time, but im not paying more than they are worth. Id love to have a 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan, but when you find one, they are high! That is if you can find one at all... i dont know where they are sending them to, but a 1992 is almost impossible. And i want a late 90's colony park. i really wanted a buick wagon, but i guess with the way things are going im going to have to be happy with the caprice that i ended up with. about the cheapest place to find them is craigslist. alot of the people there are just dumping stuff they dont want, people go on ebay hoping to make a mint.
Yup...I have no use for Ebay as a buyer. People on there get in a bidding fury and throw big money at stuff which then increases the value for the next guy that sells the same item. It's nuts. As far as cars or anything else goes; the guy with the most money wins and runs the prices up for everyone else. That goes for sales on the street as well as Ebay. People buy with their emotions instead of worth considerations it seems. But that's what makes the world go 'round I guess. Me? I'm not joining that crowd. I will pay what I will pay and I will only pay what it should be worth in the market. That POS Buick I have talked about is a good example. That crook dealer has a station wagon, knows they are a hot item now and figures he can make it sound and look good on Ebay and make a killing on it. And, in my opinion, people WILL thow money at that car believing in the BS the dealer is thowing. Trouble is...after the bidding frenzy is over...they will be in for an unfortunate surprise when they go to pick that car up. Man....talk about buyer's remorse......
My two cents worth is any car is worth what you're willing to pay. If the seller and buyer are happy that's all that matters. On the other hand there is a tendancy that I've noticed over the last 10 years or so that every car is suddenly a classic.
LMAO ....yeah, tbird...If I had a buck for everytime I have read the words RARE or CLASSIC on Ebay I could buy ALL those cars!
My car is pretty rare. But, according to NADA if it was in perfect condition it could be worth $4,000. It would cost at least $25,000 to get it that way.At least I have no rust to deal with.
thats my problem, nada and kelly say these wagons are worth $1000 or less in used condition, to get the prices people are asking, they would have had to been in a museum since they were new... rediculous. before christmas at least you coul dget a good deal on a roadmaster, but now since gas dropped you cant even find one for sale thats worth having
You are correct. People are very fickle. They were dumping these cars last year. Now folks have realized that these cars are much more practicle than a new SUV. More confort. Less cost. Cheap insurance. Cheap registration fees. Most have all the safety features of new cars. Very low sales tax. You can have a very nice body and very poor drive train and the repairs are less than 25% of a new car. I don't see a disadvantage.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
I loved the article i posted about the caddy cts wagon, the part where they said, that carmakers are now starting to focus on making more wagons as a more economical alternative to the SUV.. hell, ive been tellign my friends that since 1992. I love minivans too, and even they are waaaay better than an suv. i hate suvs
the colony park is one of my favorites, it is also fairly rare. full size wagons are becoming rare party because of people selling our beloved "very non-collectable" wagons as Demo foddor, down that road, no one wins (except maybe the driver) as it makes one less wagon and no useable parts afterward!
Not sure exactly what year, but there is a Colony Park wagon here in town that has been setting in someones driveway, untouched for at least 10-15 years. It looks like new tires were installed and the car was parked... still has the blue paint on the white walls. I remember it setting there when I was a kid. It still looks nice, which is amazing, but maybe its because its on the north side of a taller garage and 3-story house and somewhat protected from the full all-day sun in the winter. Its dark blue w/woodgrain. I know that its no newer than a 1987. Looks to be probably a 1983-87 model. If I could see the tailgate, I would know if its got the 3rd brake light... if so, its a 1986-87, but I think its more like a 1984-85 model. Manys been the time I have thought about stopping and asking about it. Beside of it is an almost identical Grand Marquis sedan... they also have a late model Grand Marquis sedan. Ironically, two houses down from this house, they had a '73 Country Squire for years... light green on dark green. It vanished. I wish I had of checked on that car before, but it was pretty beat up.
Ha, I pulled into wal-mart today and was talking to one of my friends when he just interrupts me with "TURN AROUND!!!" And I turned around to a beautiful Grand Marquis driving behind me. Brown with woodgrain. The guy driving it was about 137 years old, which my friends found very amusing. But it was a georgous ride.
I would love to have a Colony Park wagon. Unfortunately they are rare, and when one shows up around here they are usually pretty beat. There is a '91 for sale about 10 miles away from me. About 6 months ago a friend spotted it and gave me the phone number. When I called, the guy said that it was in showroom condition, said it had low miles, everything worked, and said that he would like to get $2000 for it. I thought that was a pretty good deal if it was as nice as he said it was. I get over there and he tries to pull the bait and switch changing the price to $2750. It is far from showroom condition (more like Earl Scheib showroom condition), and the low miles it had turned out to be 150,000. I told him call me when he lowers the price to $900. Fast forward 6 months and it is still sitting there, and probably will still be there in another 6 months.
