Hello! I recently joined this forum as a new owner (almost) of a 1967 Ford Country Squire wagon. After locating the car on Craigslist here in Southern California I spoke with the owner and made arrangements to see the car. A price was negotiated and after a down payment was handed over plans are made to pick up the car next weekend. The previous owner has removed all of the molding/wood grain decals essentially making it appear to be a Country Sedan. A crunch of the VIN reveals it to be a Squire made in LA with a 315 horsepower 390 (4 barrel carb). It is a project that I am eager to begin with nothing more than a mild retro-mod rebuild planned. I look forward to interacting here on the forum and sharing the passion of fellow car enthusiasts. Mike: character0182:
Thank You for the warm welcomes! Thank you very much for the warm welcomes! My initial plans are to get the wagon running reliably. I'm still not sure what that might entail. The current owner removed the fuel tank and has a replacement tank ready for install so the car isn't running yet. I can tell immediately the car needs plug wires, HEI distributor, new hoses, belts, etc. The heater core has also been bi-passed so that's at the top of my list. Eventually body, paint, and a new set of decals and moldings with window tint and a fresh set of rims and rubber. My wife and I have a new daughter and are planning for one more child in the near future. I have fond memories of riding in the rear jumpseats of a similar wagon as a youngster and would like to pass on similar fond memories for our kids to have. Mike
Welcome, CalMike., to the SWF. Sorry to disagree with you, but your wagon is a Country Sedan, not a Country Squire. If it was a Squire, there would be some evidence of the rail moldings around the wood grain. The paint looks original, so I think there's a mistake somewhere. Marshall
Hi Marshall, Strangely enough the previous owner did remove all of the trim and moldings. There is evidence of the moldings on the body. Crunching the VIN revelas the car to be a Squire built in LA with the 315 horsepower 390 and 10 passenger seating.
Welcome to the club CalMike, great to see another '67 Ford in the group. Keep us up to date on the work as it proceeds. Cheers!!
Welcome to the forums CalMike! I look forward to watching your car progress. I have a 67 Country Squire as well. Great to have fellow 67 Country Squire owners.
