    Mark,
No matter what you and your friend decide to do, once you get around to selling the car, would you please consider giving the users of this forum first shot at buying the car before you list it locally or on ebay?
I can't promise a sure sale, but we would all hate to see it go to a demolition derby.

    Thanks!
    Dave

    Jo,

As said before, hello and welcome! :Welcome:
From everyone here in the Station Wagon community, please accept our condolences for your losses. We are always sad to hear of a wagon lover who is no longer with us, no matter how poorly we know them.

We are all looking forward to hearing more about your "Red Devil", and cannot wait to see some more pictures. It sounds like it has had some wonderful stories associated with it over the years.

    Dave

O.k. Chicago isn't exactly in the U.K.! I was originally from London and my friend Mark who introduced me to Station Wagon forums lives in Bristol in the west of England. I have been living in the windy city now for over thirty years. My Red Devil is located up near Sturgeon Bay W.I.
I would like to get a step by step on how to put my wagon on the classified ads here, as I am not sure how this works. Will post another story soon, hopefully with pictures of the Red Devil leading the local Fourth of July parade! Look forward to the classified ad directions. Jo

Jo, I'll start from the very beginning, in case you don't know where the classified section is. Forgive me if I'm over explaining things.

On the home page, the first category is "Welcome to the station wagon forums"
Second category is "Station wagon forums"
Third category is "Station wagon classified"

The first page in "station wagon classifieds" is "Station wagons & parts for sale"
That is where you will be listing your wagon. Once you have clicked on that link, you should see a blue button that says "New Thread" Click that button.

That will allow you to write your ad. There will be a spot to fill in title, asking price, and the location of the car. In the main body of the ad give a good description of the car.

Below that, you will see a heading that says "additional options"
Under that is a button you can click that says "manage attachments"
When you click that, a new box will open that says "choose file from you computer"
Under that will be a button that says "choose file"
When you click that you will be able to select a picture from your computer
Upload as many pictures as you want, or as many as you have. You usually can't have too many for people on this site.
Once you have chosen all the pictures, there is a button at the bottom of that box that says "upload" Click that and wait for the pictures to upload.
After they have uploaded you can close that box and you will see the page where you wrote the ad.
At the bottom is a button that says "submit new thread" Once you click that, your ad is posted, and you just have to wait for replies!

Here are some things that people like to know.
    Year, make and model
    Mileage
What options does the car have Power seats, mirrors, locks, windows
    Does it have air conditioning
Is there any body damage, dings, dents, scuffs
    Is there any rust
    Where is the rust
Is there anything missing from the car that it once had, mirrors, door handles, etc...
How is the interior, are the seats ripped, how bad, or good, is the carpet
Does anything NOT work that should work, gauges, power options, A/C, etc...
If the car cannot be driven currently, why not
Has any work been done to the car, and if so, what and how recently

If you aren't sure about any of those things, the people on here can figure most of it out from good pictures. If you can get good pictures loaded on your computer you should try to get pictures of...
    Both sides, front and back
Some good pictures of the interior, front seat, middle seat, and back area
Any pictures of rust or damage
If possible, a picture of the underside of the car
    The engine area

I'm sure I forgot some things people want to know, so others will have to fill that in.

I hope this helps, and if you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask.

OK - Here's how to post a 'For Sale' ad:

    Read all this first....

    1) Click on this link:
    http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14

This takes you to our 'Station Wagons & Parts For Sale' section of the forum.
Disregard the first section heading that says "Sub-Forums" (Swapping Parts)

2)You'll see a second heading that says, "Threads in Forum- Station Wagons & Parts For Sale". Just above this heading, on the left side is a tab marked "New Thread" Click on that and a new window will open where you can post your ad - it's just a text box just like one that opens for a reply like you've already done. You'll have to include a 'title' in the title box, and i believe there's a requirement of a price in the ad.

    3) When making your thread, include all pertinant information, and how to contact you. You can put your phone, an e-mail, or simply have them respond by our internal 'PM' personal messaging.

    4) We have 3 pics of the wagon already in the gallery. You should try to add a few more - engine compartment, dash, all seats, cargo compartment, etc.

    Good luck with the sale!

    Marshall

    Dave,
Many, many, thanks for the directions on posting the classified ad. I am simply not familiar with how this website works but I am certain I will learn! I noticed 5 posts are needed first, but this is fifth I think. You did a fantastic job, and I really appreciate it. Watch out for the ad. now!
