    Hello station wagon lovers,

Does anyone know exactly what I would need to do a front brake conversion and beef up my suspension for towing a camper for my '67 Ford Country Sedan?

    Thanks! --- Mark

I'm not into newer Fords. Yes that's newer than my Fords. But by 1967 many Ford models had disc brakes. I'm sure it's a simple matter of getting junk yard brake and suspension parts and swapping them. A smart move for towing an RV. Don't forget a heavy duty automatic tranny cooler. Don't even use the radiator cooler.
Stay tuned for real Ford reports.

Newer? I love it!:49: Will dig around. I have a new radiator with electric fan, and a tranny cooler. Thanks

By 67, front disc brakes were a factory option. IF you can find the donor in the wrecker's, that is one source. I believe, though, that the front disc brakes from a 72 and up Torino or Montego, a 74 -79 Cougar, 77-79 LTD II or Thunderbird, or 72 -79 Ranchero will all fit, and with the number of them made, parts are quite easy to get. The front calipers, for example, are $20 rebuilt with a $2 core charge.

Ford tended to use the same parts for many years, but you have to watch, as there are times the part numbers changed, but the actual part did not. Hollander's is your friend with these cars.

Call Scarebird. They make brackets for your car. You use their brackets and you don't have to remove the drum spindle. They give you a list of parts to source from Rock Auto or Advance or Napa, whatever.

The beauty part is that you can get this done for less than $500.00. Now you can get kits for the same price, but with Scarebird, you can buy the parts as the budget allows. This allows for each individual part inspection. Also this allows for you to get the cheapest price for the parts.

I have this kit on both of my 67 Pontiac Tempest's. The coupe has their original kit and the Wagon has the upgraded kit. Both cars stop on a dime and are ultra-reliable.
