Yes, when a tornado took out my shop and severely damaged my house in 2003. Had four under Hagerty ('68 Dodge, '50 & '53 Hudsons, '59 Metropolitan). The '50 Hudson coupe and the '68 Dodge were totals, while the '53 Hornet and the Met received plenty of damage, but not enough for a total on either. Called them the day after the tornado. The adjuster came out the day after and I had a check for all four within three days. Outstanding service! I was quite impressed. My two drivers were another story. USAA is a sham! I had to take them to arbitration before the state Insurance Commission after the same storm destroyed my near-perfect '70 F250 (my Dad's old truck). It was appraised at $8K, and they offered less than $2,700 for it! Their appraiser was a moron! I finally got a little over $5K for it and kept the remains.
Cool. A lot of us have collector car insurance but hopefully have never had to file a claim and hopefully never will. When and if that ever happens, we really don't know how well our insurance company will perform. For daily driver use, I've had nothing but State Farm since 1983. I've had a few claims over the years. Always good service (so far!).
I have my wagon insured for 50K thru Grundy................cost is $390 a year. I would call them to see what they say........can't hurt to call.
Wow...I didn't realize that the specialty insurance was really that cheap. I may have to look into this for the 72 Torino this week. Love the thread.
I have AMPAC (CHROME) insurance on our '54 Wagon,,I have got a lot of man hours and too much money tied up in that car, I have it insured for 35 grand, the rates are reasonable. What you may not know is the AMPAC offers builders insurance that will cover your investment should the shop burn down,,this insurance is very inexpensive. I do keep the wagon in a garage under lock & key. HRP
Very nice ranch wagon...don't see the 50's wagons much anymore. I tried to talk a local here into selling me a 58 Courier wagon....he was having none of it, lol
Nope...it is multi-colored...lol He stole it from his neighbor here in west Michigan for under 6 gran I believe. He had been eying the car for a good 7-8 years and the guy finally gave in. Told him I'd give him what he paid for cash and trade one of my 72 Gran Torino wagons for it....I understand the labor that would be involved in making this look good again, I don't think he has a clue. I believe there are only a little over a dozen of these registered as still being alive?
