I need help with my mom's Charger dies out but starts right back up. Now before you think I am crazy I am a chrysler mechanic by trade and have seen this problem before and have even had to open "star case" thru Chrysler on one before and was told to change the spark plugs. As crazy as it sounds it worked on the one in the shop because that was almost a year ago and it hasn't comeback. I did that to my mom's and it seem to fix it but after 600 miles it is doing it again. It is not setting any DTC's in any of the modules. It also sometimes shuts down and dims the lights but doesn't die all the way out. I will check all the grounds on the car tomorrow but I know we have some good mechanics here that may be able to tell me what I am overlooking. HELP, PLEASE! Thanks , Dennis
Creeepy T-Man..... My next door neighbor has been having very similar problems with his truck, yet it's a diesel. But on top of his problems the alarm lites on the exterior flash when the truck is running fine, . The dealer told him his batteries need to be changed (????), 2 new batteries later and a week goes buy and the truck is showing the same symptoms. It's now in the shop and who knows what it will cost him and WTF is going on?.....
Too many electronics on these cars and way too many modules. Last month I had to go to school on adaptive cruise control. It puts pressure on the wheel either way (right or left) to help keep you centered on the road and applies the brake for you when a object is sensed on its radar as being too close! The calibration process is way more than I want to do. We are closer than we realize to cars driving themselves. Oh yeah let me get back on topic....HELP! with my mom's Charger!
I used to have a Magnum R/T, which has the exact same drive-train as the Charger. I never had that problem. But, you might want to check out lxforums.com. I used to be a very active member there. They can probably help out.
Yes it loses electrical power but only for a brief moment because when you hit the key it starts right back up. No long crank time or anything.
