OMG, this appears to be less than 1,500 miles from me. I've shipped cars cross-country before, but never across a border. Anybody know what kind of logistical issues this would pose?

It appears I have missed tones of this thread, Car started at $750 and now.......seems like the seller got the idea from the 74 Country Squire that kept popping up on Ebay at a higher price:naughty:

Just to answer some of the Questions....

KK:, ferry would be apx $100 (truck and trailer $200+ depending on length, you they charge by the foot after 10 feet I believe) one way and plan to waist almost 1/2 a day to jump the puddle 1 way. Example.... You need to be at the ferry terminal at least a 1/2 hour before sailing even with the extra cash grab cost of a reservation, no reservation and you may have a sailing wait, some times the ferries are so loaded and it's happened many time a 2-3 sailing wait. So you get there at 6:30 AM and get on the 7AM sailing, by the time you get off it's 9AM if your lucky. Now it's winter sailing so the boats only sails every 2 hours, it's winter so be prepared for ferry cancelations due to weather................... It's never fun after your first time:disagree:

As for shipping, get a mainland price from Vancouver BC and almost double it to where ever you are. I make this reference based on what blew a couple potential sales on my Olds wagons, just to get them off the island the price almost doubled!

I think I can see why he may be having trouble selling. :-(

Also, the price jumped??? OK, there is a chance it's a flipper but either way, the price has jumped and now is going down. No real interest even if I was searching for another wagon myself because if it sold and is being flipped...... I know what the original asking price was.

BTW, location, location, location, and the island is no location to sell wagons, no interest.

Don't want to pop your balloon, but..... it's a 1988, that's going to mean all the smog/emitions testing once it's back in Ontario. I'm just saying, it's something to really think about!:yup: It's a 88, so it has the same 307 Olds engine as your Buick. Not saying that's a bad thing, but.....

    .....and why the price "jump"?

Hey tedy, yep but the 307 isn't a bad engine just.....snooze. I don't plan on towing,I have the LTI for that if needed. I spoke at length with a wonderful forum member here and my current 307 my still be salvageable.

Btw, the electra needed nothing for etest and safety when I bought it. Didn't have to spend a dime......then....: )

I've got a 307, so I am familiar with the ...snooze;), I was only wondering about possible issues that can happen with any car no matter what the engine down the road if you have as I understand it, smog testing every 2 years.

If(?) you bring this 88 Chev into Ontario would you not have to get it inspected and smog tested ASAP in order to insure it because the car came from out of province? I'm only mentioning this because of 1988 being the "sticky" year for you when it comes to all your smog testing.

I'm not trying to steer you away from the car, I have no interest in it.... I have enough wagons to keep my busy this winter:biglaugh:, if you want it....

But just saying, plane fair, $ to drive it back on top of buying another car..... you could get your Buick @ 110% for spring with that $;)(y)

FT,don't you know my middle name is " shoestring". Plane fare!!?? Nope, I can save bucks doing a ride share off kiji with some creeper guy.lol. Even the bus from TO to VAN is about 260 one way and will take 2/3 days.

Then I plan to camp/ sleep in the car on the way back. Even pick up a couple of fuel cans to fill up in cheap Alberta so when I hit communist on I can use the cheap fuel.

I don't eat in restaurants either. Grocery stores and I can bring my camp cooker with my for oatmeal and coffee in the am with my legs dangling down off the tailgate..." Mornin".....:tiphat:

    Dude...it's all about the adventure!

And you must admit, this looks like it would be worth the effort.

    ???, but you said "fly".......:rofl2:

I sure hope you have asked for ALOT more detailed pics etc. Yes it does look nice, but did you also ask the owner "whats with the price jump (that now seems to be dropping:scratchchin:)?" Wish it was closer, I'd go look-E-loo for you in person.

Cause fly n ride is what I initially thought. The via takes 4 days @$335.00 economy. the seller and myself are going to do a facetime thing apparently. I have never FT so I am not sure what to expect from it. As for the price variances, to quote walter white from breaking bad.....tread lightly....lol. we havent talked price yet.

Too bad I cant hobo my way across the country. ....lol

I emailed the seller the morning of the 20th with a request for pics, history etc on this wagon but he didn't reply as soon as I had hoped. I later found theshnizzle's posts here that they had spoken so I immediately backed off. But about an hour ago I got a reply, asking that I FaceTime with him.

Theshnizzle: I don't know where you are in this process, but know I will pose no competition for you. As much as I would love to have this wagon, the border crossing and island-extracting logistics are a bit of a deal-killer for me. Good luck and do keep us posted! :tiphat:
