Maybe it's just me but without the "Vista Cruiser" windows it just seems like it's missing something.
Why didn't I buy one of these when they were only $1,000 or so.... (Well, that was back in 1972... for a '68 model) Always like these Olds Cutlass flat tops. To me, the Vista Cruiser looked a bit bloated with the extended wheelbase. These short ones (same wheelbase as a Malibu) were the thing for me. This is a nice one.
The big thing I see this wagon missing is the dash vents for the factory AC. Looks weird to me since all the Cutlasses I ever saw in GA were factory AC equipped.
The only thing I can think of that is missing is the luggage rack. I've always thought the extended rear doors of the Vista/Sport Wagon threw the proportions off kilter. This looks like a nice tidy wagon that has been cared for carefully over the years. Probably a very good buy.
Those 3 anti-theft bars look like they're strategically mounted, in order to hide the added-on A/C unit
just so you know Costa Mesa hosts several large Car Shows every year. They're also the site of one of those televised Car Auctions. Maybe they're tagging the car with an enthusiastic auction price. Looks good from what I can see of it... Rocket 350? I understand it's probably possible--- or possibly probable, but; really?
And, at least one of them should be sticking out the other way. What's the point of all of them aiming the same way? Are Olds steering wheels that easy to remove?
My understanding of these steering wheel locks is that the thief simply hacksaws through the steering wheel, than simply discards the antitheft device. Thirty seconds and you're on the road.
LAPD reports raiding chop shops--- and there'll be five or six steering wheels , off to one side, with the locks still on them. Apparently, there's a way to take the steering wheel off, with them still on there. Then you drive the car with vice grips or your own wheel...
