Too hideous for words. Seller thinks this piece of junk is a '74. My favorite feature of this rust bucket is the Caprice Classic emblem pasted onto the passenger side of the dash. But it can all be yours for just $2200. http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/3966935892.html
I don't really think this is that terrible. Yeah, it's got rust, and the flat black primer sure ain't pretty, but all the panels line up with decent gaps, still has ok bumpers, though the front one is a little askew. At least two original hub caps, the exhaust is still in the correct spot, still has it's original rear view mirror. Inside, the cracked dash is still mainly intact, with the exception of a tach or something where the clock once was. It still has it's original steering wheel, and not a chrome chain one, lol! The passenger door panel is really all we can see, but it actually looks quite nice. It still has it's spare tire compartment cover. Looks like it was original color was blue. Yeah, it probably is far rustier than what anyone would want. It will probably go for $1000. It's most assuredly derby-bound. David
It looks like I see some wood-grain trim on the driver-side of the instrument panel... this was usually reserved for the Caprice models. This panel may have been replaced with one off of a Caprice... then again, my eyes may be deceiving me. lol. I am amazed that the gate still works.
Another roundback that will probably go down in a blaze of demo derby glory. They'll be 50 pounds of rust flakes and dust knocked off of it on the first hit.
For all its faults, and they are legion, there is something about this one. I don't think it is ready to die yet. The stance is exactly right on it. The panel gaps that we can see are all good, and there is not a lot of ripple to show poorly done body work. A bit of tlc, and someone could have a decent car for a good few winters in this one, then use the remains to keep another one going.
I'd drive this thing into the ground. I'm sure it can run for another decade or two and who knows, maybe I can patch it up enough to last longer and take a coat of paint or ten.
