Beautiful car, great colours, and seems to be very well cared for. Been decades since I saw one here that nice.

It must be the "Cascade Green Metallic" exterior paint colour:

    http://www.oldride.com/library/1964_ford_galaxie.html

otherwise I would have thought it to be black, rather than green.

Could the car be too good to be true? Not many pics of the interior? No pics of the frame or lower body panels?

I know, I know, I'm too suspicious ... but the Internet made me that way. :16suspect1:

A call at "814-603-1781 after 5:00 est" would probably answer most of your questions and who knows this could be your dream come true.

I know what you feel, just pulled the trigger on a wagon sight/unseen from Pennsylvania and i am so anxious to see what will come out of it ?

Don't know where this "Selling for a Friend....." phrasing got started. I've always taken it as code meaning, "I'm a flipper and I don't want to answer any questions about the vehicle's history......." Always gets my antennae up when I read that.

Sent an e-mail, no reply. Arouses my suspicions even further.

I'll wait until I get home next Sunday before calling. Away from home at the moment, long-distance charges would be too expensive. :(

Me too, KK. I asked reasonable questions, without an answer so far. Hmmm ... :hmmm:

And believe it or not some people do sell items for friends. I currently have a couple of ads for a friend of mine; (78) no internet.

However, they are worded for the buyer to contact him, not me.

    NICE CAR!

What price do you think this car would sell for? Keeping in mind the fluid leaks and the fact that it sat from 1979 (apparently) until now?

Since he included his phone number, he may not be too interested in responding to Email. Maybe he figures if someone's serious, they'll call.

Noticed a lot of the pics show the car wet -probably he just sprayed it down - makes the paint look better and rust bubbles not so clear. I fell for that buying a Ford Ranchero out of Vancouver based on pics only. I was lucky I was able to sell it and get my money back out of it....

Finally got an e-mail response, but it was short (and sweet).

I'll never understand people who try to sell things on-line, but who don't like e-mail. I'd rather answer an e-mail on my own time, instead of being interrupted by the telephone when eating dinner, drinking beer, etc.

Another thing that raises my suspicions. What, he couldn't have taken pictures after rubbing the car down with a chamois, or waiting for it to dry?

That looks like a really nice, unmolested ride, the old lady owner is right in the pics and that car is way too clean to have over 32k miles on it, have faith. If I were looking for one I'd be on that thing like white on rice.
I've liked them ever since I had the Motorific version back in '66.:)

I have always been frustrated with "selling for a friend", then had a friend list something for me when I was away but wanted it listed. I can understand that it happens and often with a senior who has lost a spouse and doesn't want to deal with it, just try to sell it to someone who will love it too........

As for email responses - when I was selling a vintage Airstream I got inundated with email questions. Not a couple but some people had 15 to 20 questions, wanting pics of this and that and then wanted me to call them back to boot so they wouldn't bear any costs. I was getting upwards of 30 emails a day and I got tired of it so I changed the advert to read no email responses and here's my phone number. If you want more pictures be clear of what you want when you call. Note that I had posted pics of every conceivable thing having rebuilt most of the trailer. Drove me nuts. And people still emailed and asked for responses which I just ignored. Mind you, the phone ringing off the hook was a whole other unexpected but appreciated result and it sold quickly for really good dollars, I could have gotten more but was determined that it go to someone who would appreciate it, and not flip it.

So, as much as I don't like it when I'm purchasing, when I'm selling ...............

Now, to this wagon in the advert, it does look "real". Anything that has sat as long as it has will likely have seals that need redoing, or perhaps just using it they will swell again for the most part, don't know that for sure just a guess. But I'd expect to be re-gasketing much of anything from that year that is stock anyway, grenading belts and hoses and other consumables. If this is real you could not build it for what it is sitting at now for $. And you'd still have a built car versus an original low mileage car. If the history is proven, this would be an outstanding wagon to own. Wish I was wealthy!!!!!
