Greetings Im also from new zealand and ive recently purchased an XY Ford Falcon wagon. It needs major reconstruction work but i think it will be fun to do. I joined this site for tips and advice and to share my experiences through out the rebuilding process.

The wagon looks good, needs a little work but that's really is the fun part.

 

One day it will look good and it needs a lot of work but your right that is the fun part. Expect the major rust repairs in the floor and sill that gets a bit tedious

Thanks for that, parts arent to big an issue I know a few people but you can never have too many suppliers on hand for a job of this size

 

How does that Aussie naming convention work for the XP, XD, XY? Never could get my brain around that. People put them up for sale without ever mentioning the year. :confused:

 

Its easy when live with it, example xw falcon was made from 69 to 71 and so on

 

So an XD is likely from the 50's?

Right on! I just looked. Poor Aussies, their drains turn the opposite way, and their cars are named backwards?

 

As odd as it sound no after the xy's they started at xa xb xc xd it was a whole different style of car then after those they went into the E's ea eb ect
