I need help about electrical diagram of taillights. In fact, my LTD comes from Germany and the previous owner has modified the taillights connection because the american connection is forbidden in Germany. In France, it is permissible for vintage cars over 30 years. Today, the lower bulb is dedicated to the stop light and the upper bulb is dedicated to the turn signal. Moreover, the previous owner has welded wires directly to the bulbs :oops:mg:. So I have to change all bulbs and all bulbs socket.
I would like to redo like Original diagram.
If someone has a diagram or some photos of his car to show me how to connect, this would be great:)!

I have the Ford actory vacuum/ electrical diagram for my 77 Country Squire. It should be very similar to your 1974. However the pages are rather large, so I'll have to scan them in sections. I can email them to you if you wish.

Let me know if this helps. If you print them both out and put them net to each other you'll have the whole page. The right side of the page is the sedan diagram, but I copied the entire thing so you have the complete switch diagram that is on the top. let me know if you need more diagrams. Like I said, I have the complete book.

    Hi Supergordo,
Thank you very much (y)! I think this can help me. If it doesn't annoy you :oops:and if you have time,of course, could you send me some photos of your taillights disassembled? May be this can help me too.
I have ordered bulb sockets, as soon as received I try to repare.

Which motor do you have on your 78 LTD?

Give me a minute and I'll post the rest of the related diagrams. I'll try and shoot some photos of the actual light sockets, but I have to go take that apart to do it.

These should cover just about everything that goes to the back of the car as far as lighting goes. Let me know if you can use anything else.

This is enough for the moment. I will study the diagrams. I think that the previous owner have not modified connection taillight only but the harness between relay and taillights. I will see.
Thank you again. I'll let you know.

    Hi supergordo,
I have started to compare the diagrams with the connection I have on my LTD. In fact, I need also the stop lights diagram. I think I need also pictures of your taillights, to really compare to mine:sorry:.
I have attached pictures of my taillights for you to understand my problem!

    Bullitt,
If you do nothing else, get rid of those crimp connectors and Scotchloks. They are the cause of 99% of electrical problems on systems that contain them. Solder the joints and cover them with shrink wrap.
