Does anyone have a contact number for the seller? I messaged him through email using the Craigslist address, did not receive a reply. Thanks

The seller has emailed me twice, once with more info, then letting me know that pics were posted.

It took a couple of days though.

A little O/T, but this low optioned '73 reminds me of a high optioned '73 Caprice Estate I seen a few years ago, it was white, which is a color not seen too often, but another rare option it had was COMFORTRON A/C. :)

Did the seller ever reply? He said someone else had emailed about the car and even called and made a serious offer, but not near as much as the asking price. Not sure who though. I told him sell it if someone had made an offer, I just hope someone that will restore it gets it and not someone that wants to crack it up. It is way too nice for that, low optioned or not.

That Comfortron controller looks like the HVAC controls I had in my 78 Buick Electra. When it failed, I ended up replacing it. I used the fan switch from a 74 Delta, and choke cables to operate the flaps for temp and direction. It was not a pretty repair but it did last the life of the car.

Looking closely at the pictures the interior looks very good, excluding the left rear quarter panel interior cover, appears to have the woodgrain trim missing off the back on the left rear quarter, dents in the tailgate, and it appears to have rust starting around the left rear window and the right dogleg appears like it also has rust. Needs bothe left and right front bumper fillers replaced. With these issues, leaking fuel tank and a non runner I would give $2,000-$2,200 for it. It needs some love but appears to be a good survivor car. I might contact the seller, A nice set of wheels and a buff and it would make a good cruiser for a decent price. My guess is the carb needs rebuilt, replace rubber fuel lines and you might get lucky on the tank and just have a bar hose. And being a 73 it might have a points style distributor with some rusty points. Could be a quick fix

Well I have negotiated a fair price, now we are waiting on shipping qoutes to get it back to IL. BUT, its still for sale so if anyone else is interested please continue to try and buy it. I won't pay more than $500 to get it shipped back here so more than likely I won't close the deal

Good on you Swanny, I just wish it was not a basic Caprice. Headache or not and I have been warned I know, but for me the full power gate is still a must. Also Like you, I would not be too afraid of the engine mechanicles (as long as it did not need a total rebuild that is), because at $2000 and of course if the car was worth it, there is still some room for some dollars to be spent in that area anyway.

Well the deal is all settled. I bought the car, found a guy to haul it home. Hopefully it is a good car, but for the price I don't think I got hurt. Anyone have a good 71-76 clamshell gastank?

No, I paid up for it. By the time it gets home I will have $3,200 in it. But, the interior looks good and I talked to the guy a d h
He gave me the history of it. If Its not up to my standards I am sure I will break even or loose just a little money. No big deal

Around 10 years ago I was able to score a new tank for my 73 Impala wagon. I can't remember where it came from though. :p I'm glad you got the wagon!!!

Found a good tank 50 miles from me. Now I need the bumper fillers for the front. Cannot wait to get this thing home and start on it
