Hey i'm new to the whole car rebuilding area. I Just got a 1962 Ford Falcon Wagon and it runs n drives good its just that when i tap on the brakes the light fails to go on, but the lights work normally if i turn them on and the signal lights work normally as well. I do not know where the brake lines lead to as i loose them when they go into the body of the car. so if anyone has anything that would hekp that would be great. Thanks alot, Kai Jensen
Welcome, but this is the forum for your introduction. There are other ones where it is appropriate to ask technical questions. Why yoiu might ask.....not everyone reads every forum. I would answer your question, but then I would be breaking protocol. Let's see some pictures of your wagon and tell us a little about yourself.
The problem may be under the dashboard. Connected to most brake pedals and their under the dash linkage is; the brake light switch. It'll be in a spot where the linkage presses a switch on a small electronic box. You can probably Google a schematic of the 62 Falcon brake pedal assembly, to find out.
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home. Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable. Most of the time, I would not answer technical question here in the Intro threads, but in the interest of getting you mobile, here is your answer. I believe these Falcons use the same brake lamp switch as the Mustang. If so, it is an in line pressure switch. You should find it below the master cylinder. When Rev sees your post, no doubt he will give you the exact, precise, and correct, information since he is the past-master at all things old Fords. Wait until you see his parki.., er, um. garden!
alright man...I need to see it ! Kai...the problems probably an easy fix ! there is a lil solenoid on the master cylinder with 2 wires on it. thats your ground interupt brake switch ! cheap and easy fix
