Yesterday morning I was having a drive way :coffee: BS section with a bud who lives in the duplex on the other side of the street and animal control drives by very slow and stops at a house a few doors down. We saw the guy writing up stuff and talking to the owner of a female pit bull. Then a hour'ish later the same guy is back, but now he's talking with people across the street. Then all day yesterday they kept driving by...?????

So just moments ago Deb tells me There is a guy in uniform walking up to the house but then he turned around and it's animal control. So I go out as he is parked blocking my drive way. He backs up and I just ask some questions, I also referred to the house in Question to witch he responded "I'm not at liberty to talk about this"...????? Then as are chatting I mention I have dogs etc and he says to me..." We have reference about your dogs, we have no issue with you or them". Well if that didn't make think....WTF????, and well GOOD!

Then a second van pulls up, guy gets out says hello to me and asks the other guy if he's ready? And where do they go, to the house that was visited yesterday and the folks living there must have been expecting them as the drive way was full of people.

I have no idea WTF is going on but they walked over with a fist full of paper work.

I can't figure it out also, we know this dog, she is a timid friendly little pit.....but something must have happened! 2 of them coming on a Sunday!?

Do you have a local ordinance regarding pit bulls?
Some communities have banned the breed...

I don't know him very well, but his Mom and Dad live next door and I chat with the Dad when he goes for walks past my house. I won't approach them, I'll just wait for a drive way BS section.

    .....Bylaw cops are still there...........

Pit Bulls have a bad name here in Florida. Sadly too many are trained to be attack dogs or are mistreated. They are also like old men, temperamental ......

Yeah the Pits have gotton a bad wrap, but as you mentioned it's normally the owners who are at fault for there temperament.

I remember in the 70's German Sheps got the bad wrath, then Dobermans, the Rotties, then Pits.....

I honestly don't know what has happened and am confused as we do know this dog and she is a very friendly little thing. Animal control was there for a very long time but I didn't see them leave...don't know anything yet.

Yeah the Pits have gotton a bad wrap, but as you mentioned it's normally the owners who are at fault for there temperament.X2. I have a person that lives at the beginning of my street (closest neighbor to us) that has a Pit...on a chain, no fence and couple times I stopped because 100 degree heat no one around and water bowl was turned over and he had his tongue hanging out so I filled it up and stayed out of his reach and pushed it close enough with a pole out the back of my truck. I told the lady who's son owns the dog and it has gotten off the chain and ended up in my yard. I have 2 small dogs and 2 cats not sure how he would react to them, he is just being a dog but I can't have him running loose on my property...after talking to the Momma, I understand the son not being too swift. 99% is usually the owners fault!

God I hope that whatever it is turns out to be a simple, harmless, misunderstanding. As a breed I like pits. I've known good ones and bad ones and as was mentioned prior, its not the dog's fault, its the owners who dictate how the dog turns out.

I have mixed feelings about pitties as a breed. I've known some that were real sweethearts. Then again, 2 of those sweethearts ended up being shot by police as they were trying to KILL people, too. From what I understand it is the shape of the forehead on some of them. If it is too sloped, the front lobes of the brain are mis-shapen, and they can snap with no warning, no matter their behavior or training. Also, there are cases where a dog is just born nasty. My first Beagle was one. I ended up putting a shock collar around her neck to stop her attacking. Had that not worked she would have been put down as she was a menace if she did not like someone.

Those dogs were bred solely for bloodsports. Probably, in Victorian England for bull-baiting. What makes them especially dangerous are their powerfull jaws. They can apply more pounds per square inch than any other dog. As previously mentioned, the combination of the aforementioned with their psychological inpredictability makes them especially threatening.
My sister and her boyfriend are presently fixing up a house in Warren, Michigan. Unlike where she has her own house, in Warren they make Pitbull owners take out a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy on such dogs

We live at the corner of three counties and it's affectionately called "Redneck country" These rednecks are proud of their Pit Bulls and haul them everywhere in cages in the back of their pickups, also known as redneck pickups. The guns in the back window are other clues, as are the no mufflers or nearly none, trucks jacked up, but way taller in front so they go faster, and Rebel flags. Usually a sign saying Bubba's truck or Mom's Cadillac will be displayed.
Many of these dogs ride on top of their cages, whether on the highway at 70MPH, cruising downtown, or at Wal-Mart. Many of them look tame. Many show their teeth and growl if you even look at them. I'm talkin about the Pit Bulls now!
Since we've lived here we've heard about PitBulls killing and nearly eating the owner's other small dogs, kids, and other animals. I also believe there are special owner laws here for those reasons.
I love all animals but never touch a Pit Bull. I've also heard about that head shape thing. I've also heard about snakes with sideways eyes and such. I don't usually pet snakes either no matter which way their eyes slant!.

Hanswurst von Plumpskloh--------------Let's go climb some sand dunes at Warran Dunes.
