Ok Folks Here is yet another question Would you buy this and put Money into it. Pics then more Questions. 1954 Ford 2-door Station Wagon Project - $900 (Seatac) http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3888970890.html 1954 Ford Station Wagon - rare 2-door model is so cool. No motor or transmission. Somewhat stripped out but still has a lot of straight sheet metal, glass, dash, parts, etc - good value for the money. Also has a ton of rust. Restore or parts - no title, sold on a bill of sale only. $900 obo. 206.290.3686. Scott Now My Questions: Yes it is for sale and does not say when it was last titled From what I know here in Washington I have to send a Registered Letter to the last known Owner. When that is returned and Get it inspected by the State and then have a 3 year Registration awaiting for the previous owner to dispute ownership then I get a title.. So knowing that little bit would you? I have a 91 F150 with a EFI 3006/c6 I could put in it....???? Would you?
If I was younger and didn't have other projects I'd make them an offer and snap that 54 Ford up in a minute. Even $900 seems fair. 2-door wagons are fairly rare and this one looks straight. Everything missing I'd replace anyway. Windshields and windows shouldn't be too expensive.
Sheeeze, with that hassle it would only be a parts downer,...so where you live you would have to wait 3 years and then still no guarantee that you could title it??? PASS!
You can file for a lost title. Sometimes you can get a title from other sources legally. Or go to another state for a title. Then transfere it. I'd get the wagon and start on it. Eventually you will get a title or sell it to someone else and let them worry. Either way you can make some money off it.
I've seen this one listed for a while. I might have to ask more questions... all in all I still have to wait for more Money in My Pocket first.
Questions are cheap. Lack of title narrows down the interest. Good luck. Our system does not make things easy.
Very tough call. I'd probably shy away from it because of the title issues. But if I had the room, I'd consider CatModelT's solution!
Yes especially when I have all these Projects already My Wagon has jumped to the top of the list Our 1973 Apollo Motor home moved to the Drive way Front of the list 1991 Mazda Extra cab (daily driver) Needs Transmission 1991 F150 in Garage waiting to pull motor for Oil Pump install. My Tow Pig (1988 F350 Crew cab Diesel Flatbed) has been down for almost 2 years now. 88 Samurai convertible (waiting for Tin Top Body swap) 1991 Mazda Regular cab (Smokes 1 qt oil per 40 Miles) (Waiting to trade for another Datsun (runner driver) 76 Toyota Hi-lux (Waiting for body drop finish) 76 Datsun 620 (Waiting for Motor)
Pros: -rare 2 dr wagon -looks like all the chrome, except one headlight, is there -body goods good for the year -you probably could massage the asking price -Cats suggestion for the title -you already have the mechanical parts -sweet, rare ride when resto is completed Cons: -3yrs for a title -windsheld and dr door glass appear cracked -major resto, this will take time and money -whatever experience you bring to the ta Personally I wouldn't touch it because of the title issue but this is your decission. Do you want this car?
Guess I'm confused ah bit. Who'a getting the $900. If some knowing sells stolen property that's fraud! Are you sure that 3 year thing is true. Ask a state cop and or your DMV for the proper procedure to obtail a lost title. Just ask the guy that you're paying the $900 to for a dated bIll of sale. In Michigan it takes a state trooper about 30 seconds to run the vin to see if it does come up stolen...(nationally). If nothing comes up that trooper will fill out a small form, sign it and you go to the DMV with that and in 'bout 10 dayz you have a new title TAH-TA, Jer I've done it here more then once
if it was 500...i'd come get it !!!!! thats a rare piece !!....not to mention...it might take ya 3 years to get it on the road !! time well spent in my books
If you've got the room and could get the title (without the 3 yr wait) I'd say go for it. Bring the $$ down if you have to muck with the title, and take that beautiful puppy home! That's a rather long list of projects, but I think this one would be worth it. At the very least, you could certainly get your money back out of the body. Heck, bring it up our way for the Car Rally next summer and get a decent return on your investment.
