Which bumper do you prefer?

It's totally subjective, but I'm curious to know if Olds enthusiasts here prefer the look of a custom cruiser bumper with or without the rub strip bar.

 

I'd prefer the first one, if it was customized by having the grille slits welded shut. Both bumpers are somewhat improportionate to the vehicle's styling

 

I definitely prefer the 'with' rub strip look. They seem to break the lines of all that chrome, making the bumper seem smaller

 

ditto on "with the rub strip"......does soften the bulk of the bumber.
Could you paint the strip body color?

 

Customcruiser I like that one.

 

I like the clean original bumper without the rubstrip. The rub strip addition makes it look too linear, and ordinary.
Big bulky (ugly) federally mandated bumpers are on the way, but this beautiful fully-styled bumper with it's full cutouts for the big proud Oldsmobile grilles would be the last of it's kind.

I like the original setup open to the big grills. Classy.

 

I agree. I've been thinking about swapping mine out for bumpers without rubstrip & guards. Looks cleaner IMO.

 

Without the rub strips - looks cleaner. Also, I dig that big chrome bumper - very cool!

 

Looking at it again, the one with the rub strips does not look right. I don't remember seeing a 72, with or without rub strips, that did not cut down to allow the full grill to be seen. I guess I will have to look further.
