Hello everyone ... Been busy with work (Sunday morning) finally able to ask my question???? I'm calling it 'Silly Question' because it's probably something simple How to I access the rear tail-light/backup lite on my wagon  1991 Caprice Classic Thought it was going to be fairly easy ... unscrew and pull off ... NOPE Really appreciate some feedback on how to do Thanks - Enjoy the weekend (I AM) lol
I cant believe a Caprice Classic owner hasn't answered this question. I know it won't help much. But my 2004 Dodge truck had a bad tail light bulb. Had to get the guy at the Auto Parts store to show me how to remove the lens. This may also be the case with your wagon. Inside the truck bed is a screw, plus the few on the outside in plain sight. Remove the screws and gently pry outward to release two plastic tabs on the lens. If the tail lite bulb is out you could get a ticket from a nice man. Some don't give a warning.
You take off the spare tire cover on the right side and the side panel with the storage compartment in it on the left side to get to the tail lights. The lights are held in with those big plastic thumbscrew deals, you unscrew them and then pull out the whole unit to service it. The left side panel is held in by some screws and fits in a channel on top by the window like the spare tire cover. There are a couple of metal locating tabs on the back that fit behind the panel forward of it so you have to pull it up then backwards to get it out.
Kinda what I thought. You have to go from inside. Trying to get the headlights out of many late models is even more confusing. I guess when the lights go out we're supposed to trade.
Thanks for all input so far Think I'll try what BLUEVISTA had suggested ... surprised no other caprice wagon owners popped up with simple walk thru Thanks will try later Cheers glassman
Sorry, but I was just looking at my car and and you don't have to take off the side panel on the left side and there are some screws I forgot about too. I took that panel off several times to do my remote module and must of had that on the brain. You just lift off the storage tray on top and you can access the taillight thumbscrew. There are also two torx head screws on the edge of the taillights on the outside in the tailgate opening that have to be removed. Still have to remove take off the spare tire cover on the right. I swear I saw a '95 Roadhamster in the boneyard with a little panel inside you removed to get to the taillight, maybe the later models were different. The owner's manual has the procedure in it if you have one too. My OCC owner's manual mistakenly has you taking the light thumbscrew off before you take off the spare tire cover?
