Some fools think that if it is a car that is no longer being made then somehow it is not as relevant as one that is currently in production.
I passed on my 30-year HS reunion this year. Went to the 10 and 20, and they were OK, I guess. Naturally, everyone cliqued up with their old runnin' buddies. What's the point? This year, especially with four dollar gas in July, I really did not feel like driving to go see a bunch of people I really didn't give a shiite about back then, have not kept in touch with since, and have no desire to socialize with now. And I was even going to drive my wife's '78 New Yorker, just to chap the asses off of the Prius-types I know some have become! I'll wait a couple of decades and go to my 50-year HS reunion and see how many more are dead (thirteen so far, out of around 160!), weigh 350 pounds, and lie out their asses about the past 50 years!
ridgelines "They" probably think the idea of having a storage space in the floor,is an original Honda Ridgeline idea too. Both my Aspenwagon and my Colony Park came with locking lids over the storage in the backback. The backback seats are there in the Colony Park, but there's plenty of room for other stuff. The spare tire and some extra room for other stuff were under the floor in the Dodge.
If I went to my high school reunion with my gearhead friends from back then it would look like the pig-blood-on-the-head gym scene from "Carrie", but not as calm and orderly...and without Cissy Spacek. There were 3000 students at my high school and it was dog eat dog. I don't know if the jocks or the radical punk hippies were worse. The radicals could never start a sentence without saying "hey man" and the F-bomb with "hey man" before it was their best argument. They just yelled it louder and louder 2 inches from your face as you tried not to die laughing. The jocks were just jocks and thought they owned the place as normal. The regular hippies were real mellow and just sat on a big vent grate leaning on the school all day...man. The worse part is my wife's older sister was in the same graduating class as me and was the know everybody popular girl then and still is now. She goes to reunions and tells me all about people and what's happening when she visits. I really don't have much of a choice.:banghead3: Allan
Missed all the HS reunion events. We kept moving between English and French parts of Canada. Sounds like I didn't miss much.
My parents both decided not to go to theirs. Dad's 30th was this year and Mom's 25th was this year. I'm a senior, so I'm not reunioning yet! Don't you just love it when someone compares your classic to some plastic pile of crap? If someone compared mine to a Honda Ridgeline, they'd be eatin' fist.
With all the news about the Big 3 bailout, here in Canada too, they were showing pictures of the plastics companies and the parts they make for the Big 3. Are you sitting down? One model's whole body superstructure is entirely structurally molded plastic! I freaked! Throw-away cars. You'd need a gallon of crazy-glue in the trunk. All the sheetmetal is glued to the frame! So how do they still weigh over 3,000 lbs.?!?
thats funny you mention that ,,,they got lighter in some areas and gained it back in others,,,,it seems like a hypocrisy regarding lighter weight for fuel economy but extra weight for the technology,,,if you compare a,, well if you can call it that,,a full size car now a days which roughly the size of a mid size car back in the day i think some of them my weigh more now than comparable car say twenty years ago,,,how ever obviously with the electronic engine management systems that makes a big difference regarding performance,, but with so much plastic its kinds like tupperware on wheels
The interior of my 82 Cougar is all tupperware. Really though six or eight air bags have a lot of weight. Have you noticed how thick the sides of cars are today. Lots of internal metal for crash protection. Thus the pigs grow... My Cougar wagon is 3106 lbs curb weight. This includes full fuel and all fluids. Don't ask how much with me in it. Any my engine is all cast iron.
back when In Junior High School,mid-70's for me,it was the Surfers and the Lowriders(their pants, not their cars)By High School(late 70's),it had changed to the Soches, the Jocks and most everybody else.I was in both the Marching Band and Play Production(double nerd points). But,I was among the first to have a car that was mine and not my parents(a 1968 Mercury Colony Park)My friend Timmy managed to get a 1969 Road Runner.
