An old friend of the family's asked me for help in getting the right rear window regulator and related parts for his '95 Roadie wagon. Turns out the reason the window won't operate is someone removed all the internals from the door and welded in a piece of metal to hold the window up. There's a sedan at the local yard and I'm wondering if there's compatibility/interchangeability between the two. It seems unlikely, and Ebay listings are showing a no go, but I figured I'd ask the experts just to be sure. Thanks a bunch.

According to my '92 parts book the sedans and wagons used the same rear door window regulator from '91 to '96, power or manual.
Tonkin shows the manual type and the applications, the power type is basically the same regulator with a motor attached. It doesn't show the Roadmaster application because it's a manual regulator and they only had power windows as far as I know

On eekbay there's one with the superceded part number and shows it's for a Buick along with the others too.

In my expierence with GM parts, I would think they're the same.
GM hated making one-offs for anything let alone the last of the wagons!

I would NOT recommend trying to use sedan internals for your wagon rear door. I just checked my Motors collision parts database. Virtually ALL of the door internal parts are different between the sedan and the wagon, If you will note, the sedan rear door has a fixed quarter glass on it, while the wagon door does not.

Thanks, Marshall. According to your source, is the regulator one of the parts that is compatible? I've seen a few places that list AC Delco regulator part number 16631404 as being for Roadie sedans and wagons, as well as Caprice/Impala sedans in the same years ('91-'96).

OK - Here's the scoop. There was apparently some kind of design change or parts assembly process change for the '94 - '96 model years. Looks like for the early sedans and wagons, you could order a motor separate from the regulator, but for all the later years, it all came as an assembly. Here's some examples of the part #'s. All these are for the RIGHT side.

    SEDAN:
    '92 regulator - 16621596
    '92 - '93 motor - 19153542
    '93 - '96 regulaltor (incl motor) 16629500

    WAGON:
    '91 - '93 motor - 19153542
    '91 - '96 regulator (incl motor) - 16631404

whatever you end up with. if it has the nylon blocks that glide in the track, save yourself a near in the future headache and uipgrade the slide with a roller. rollers are available on ebay for just a few dollars and they seem to be a pretty permanent fix. the glides dont last long.

Do you prefer to purchase parts from eBay site. Is it a reliable option?

    Thanks for the tip!

Ebay's excellent. There just isn't a listing for the part(s) I need that will fit for certain.
