I wouldn't trust a canned program especially for one of the TBI cars. Most of them are garbage.

I'm guessing you have that huge factory box sitting on top of your engine? An extra inlet probably can't hurt and might be a fun project trying to make it look stock. I just wouldn't expect a huge gain from it. Can you fit a more traditional round air cleaner setup on it? Might be able to find something from a Camaro or a Corvette that already has dual snorkels to fit. I see in his sig that Olds Weighty Eight has an open element round air cleaner on his car. Here is a thread that shows his sig: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22901

A friend of mine with a 2007 Tahoe used the SuperChips tuner. He went with the tow-haul settings, and gained a LOT of performance, and what really surprised everyone, a LOT more gas mileage. According to the computer display on the dash, fuel consumption dropped to 8.9 litres/100 kms, which is 23 miles to the U.S. gallon. Quite impressive.

Could you ask him which one he bought? I need to do this with my '05 Silverado and just looked on their website but can't find one that mentions towing.

    Thanks

    Wheelman,

I had a stage 2 JET chip in my '95 Chevy van with a 350 tbi, which will be similar to your Roadmaster 350 tbi. I also put on a throttle body spacer, hypertech power charger (soup bowl), and a K&N filter in all at the same time. I would do it again, I didn't notice any fuel milage changes, but it had a bit more power in the middle/upper of the RPM range, (10-15 hp maybe) which made expressway on ramps less of a challenge.

As far as the air box, you won't get a whole lot of improvement on that, but a little exparimenting is always fun. Like Kevin said, Chevy and Pontiac had a duel snorkel tbi
air filter housing on late '80s F bodys that you might be able to adapt. With a little work you can make your stock air box a duel snorkel, have fun with it.

Saf: I will ask him. He also swapped out the factory muffler and put in a Dynaflow. The rest of the exhaust was kept stock. He also combined parts from the factory cold air intake with parts for the K&N cold air intake and came up with something better than either alone. The sound was out of this world, too. On the highway, he spent most of his time in 4 cylinder mode. Worked a treat!

Thanks for checking. I've got some work to do on my air intake system and exhaust for sure but the biggest gain is apparently through the computer from everything I've read.

No rush, when you can, would be much appreciated.

Son keeps telling me my old Dodge truck with a Hemi would get a better fuel mileage and performance with a chip. They are not cheap.
Replaced all the plastic boxes and tubing with a short cold air tube and K & N look alike cone. The kind with the center opened too. Much peppier and sounds kool! Also looks kool. Didn't help fuel mileage even with 4-point plugs and rerouting the plug wires.
As the hotrodders say, chrome don't get ya home.
I need to go to headers and a chip! Fuel mileage stinks.

You may be disappointed with the headers. The new exhaust manifolds actually flow pretty well. It is the mufflers and cats that need looking at. Even the pipes are good on many of them. I had long tube headers on Nora, the Thunderbird, and I would never waste a penny on them again.

Saf: My buddy says he used the "Cortex" tuner. Hope that helps. The exhaust is pretty good on those trucks, though, once you do the muffler. He was advised to leave the pipes alone, which he did.
