Number 2 doesn't seem too bad. And in use as a driver, which is promising. I would really wonder about the frame on the first one.
Got to look over t-top cars really well, especially if they come from a northern state. They leak and rust from the inside out, and it hides! If you can, look for a car from a dry state. Here's a rough but solid one here in Texas. http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/3344643544.html
If you want a restoration project how about a real Hurst/Olds for $3500? http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/3361297934.html
Nooo Way man, the molded, mossed one has a 350:banana: I thought of yours 81X, when i found these 2 for sale local.......I thought you would have had responce closer to Meat's post below...... Well #1...it is $200 cheaper!
I wanted a lightning rod shifter for my wagon...until I saw the prices! Holy Cow, are they expensive!!! That Hurst Olds is a diamond in the rough... Back to the OP: I'd probably take door #2 and ditch the rims...AFTER crawling all over it to make sure it isn't rotten from leaky T-tops!
