    Hi Wagon Fans!!!!!

I joined today as I had a little "misfortune" with the family wagon, a 95 Buick Roadmaster. Somebody pulled out in front of me from a stop sign and in the rain, no way to save it. Insurance company of course totalled it, but I bought it back for parts. Will sell some of the stuff soon, but first, need to look around a little.

Looking for a suitable replacement so I figured I would start here. I Will check out the classifieds as soon as I say hello and see what you all have for sale. I really liked the Roadmaster, so only one of them will do.:thumbs2:

    Thanks,
It was the wifey's work cruiser, but I was behind the wheel when it happened:mad:

Got me in a little trouble. Got out of it by buying her a 67K 95 Caprice sedan for now, Black Cherry w/grey cloth interior, nice car.

But I will eventually need to replace that wagon......came in kinda handy.

Welcome! We're maybe nuts, but we do try to be helpful! I do have a question about the old wagon, though. How badly damaged was it? These cars are nearing the bottom of the depreciation curve, so it takes very little damage to write one off according to insurance company standards. If the damage is minor enough, why not just fix it, even if you have to live with a salvage title? You don't plan on selling it anyway, so the lesser value caused by that doesn't really matter much. Good luck either way. I'm sure the group here will help you find just the right replacement if that's how you go, or to find the right parts should you decid to repair.

I considered that, Mike. If the damage was confined to just the LF fender and the two left doors, I would fix it, but it damaged the front of the quarter as well. When the woman pulled out in front of me and stopped, I made a decision that I think saved the poor woman's life. I was headed for the drivers door on her VW Jetta. Could you imagine what I would have done to her with that big Buick? When she finally saw me, she stopped, so I tried to go around the back side of her, just caught her rear bumper. Threw her out of the way like a toy, but me, ended up skinning the left side down a utility pole. Luckily, nobody was hurt.

The insurance estimate was $6,800 to fix, so naturally they totalled it. The quarter damage and probably the center post moved a little is what makes it unworthy of repair.......shame, still driveable. But better to replace it than have to R-title it and spend double the value of it to fix. Wish I could, but just not worth it. Thanks for the thought, though. I did consider that for just a little bit.

Yes, it's unfortunate, but often it just isn't worth the effort and expense to do a major rebuild when you can find another one ready to go for less. The equation can change if a person can do much of the work himself, and/or if there is sentimental attachment to the damaged car.

The fender and door changes I could handle. The quarter panel changes make it more difficult and expensive. Have to take it somewhere for that. The woodgrain also complicates things as an extra expense. And PA puts you through a lot to re-title them as a reconstructed vehicle, since the Insurance Co. made me scrap certify it to get paid. Simply less money and more effective to find another in good shape. There are a few left out there...........just have not spotted the right one yet.

Is the Tiki wagon still looking for a new home? Seems that this may just be a match made in Roadmaster Heaven!

That is a 70 Chevelle SS396 we restored and sold about two years ago. Full frame off and matching numbers. Local car, was stored by a friend awaiting resto since 1981, and he never finished it. Used it as fill in work for about three years till I finally finished it.
