Pardon me if this post belongs in a different section.

I've never been particularly smooth with women - probably why I'm 38 years old and single - and I'd like some helpful advice from the gentlemen and ladies here.

    A little background:
I recently moved from Minneapolis, MN to a small town where I know nobody.
I got a job offer I couldn't refuse, so decided to pack it up and move.

A few weeks back, I was riding my bike to work and noticed an old VW Bug parked outside the local repair shop - I'm a VW guy just as much as I love my wagons...
I stuck a note inside saying I'd like to get to know fellow VW owners in town and my phone #. I'd done the same with another Super Beetle Cabriolet, but never got any response. Still, it was worth a try.
Maybe I could meet someone in town who shares a common interest, so I wouldn't be so bored stuck in my apartment.

A couple days later, a woman calls me and says she's the owner.
We chatted for a little while on the phone, and decided to meet for coffee that Friday.

It was a bit awkward at first, as you'd expect meeting someone for the first time. But after getting to know each other, we really hit it off - it felt like getting reacquainted with an old friend.
I'm thinking I've finally found the end of the terminal boredom that has been this town since I moved here in April.
As it turns out, she's a welder at the shop on the north end of town (I'm a welder at a division of the same company on the south end), has a VW, and is generally a really fun person to be around.

    My kind of woman...:yup:

We went to the Bar & Grill across the street for a late lunch. We were having a great time conversing, joking and laughing.
After a couple beers, she invited me over to her place (we walked there, so don't get MADD at us) to "check out her Beetle"...

We chatted for a while in her living room, then went out to the back where her Beetle was parked.

When I stepped outside I hardly noticed the VW, because next to it was a *cherry* 1986 Colony Park.

It's deep red with wood, all the goodies (I can't remember if it has a roof rack or not), 5.0L, plush red velour interior, and 56,000 miles showing on the odometer - judging from the overall condition of the car, I'm fairly sure that's actual miles.

She needed to move it across town to park it at her sister's place, and let me drive it over there. It's like driving a brand new car.

I've told her I want it, and she can name her price.
She seems a bit reluctant to get rid of it.

I guess my question is: What's worked for you to get a wagon off someone who isn't trying or really wanting to sell it?

Yup, tell her you two might have to get hitched if she won't part with it.
Or maybe that's her little plan... :mischeif:

Good answer. If I met a gal that I hit it off with AND had a Colony Park in the driveway, I would likely be thinking that way haha! :rofl2::rofl2:

I was thinking of all sorts of answers but this is the best idea yet. If your ages are reasonably close, she is not down right fugly, she has many common interests, and you enjoy being with her, this is a great plan.

Continue meeting and possibly dating and let nature take it's course. There are several extremes: you may get the VW, the wagon, her, and a co-worker free. Or maybe just a good deal on the wagon. Or the shaft!
As far as sweet talking women, you can try all of the old and new lines but in the end it only works if they let it work.

Cat as always full of awesome wisdom, kudos! My advice would be pretty much the same, you guys seem to hit it off with lots of things in common, I think fate has put you here so enjoy the ride.

Do not mix business with pleasure. Trying to get someone to sell something they're not ready to sell ALWAYS results in the buyer paying more than they should. I'm sure it's a nice wagon, but I guarantee they made another one (or thousands) just like it.

As Rocky's trainer, Mickey, says: "Women weaken legs!" I'll add "and your negotiating position!"

Act like you don't want it, and I bet in 6 months she'll be asking you to get it out of her way.

Why buy it. You just met her and you can already drive it for free. She sounds like a keeper (I'm referring to the woman, but I guess it applies to the wagon as well).

Krash, are you talking about using the direct approach to get the woman, or to get the car?
Can you provide an example of what you would say?

How long have you been living under a rock Marshall? There is no such thing as the direct approach with women!:rofl2:Lies and trickery are the only thing that possibly work. Tell them how beautiful they are and how you can't live without them. Wine, candy, jewelry, and candlelight. When they get all lovey dovey run! Hopefully with the station wagon in this case!:yahoo:
