I'm picturing these with new RWL Radial T/A's and Olds Rocket center cap decals... These are for sale really close by, right bolt pattern for my wagon, and I've liked these since I saw my first SS454 pickup. I think they look good on wagons and would change the look just enough to make it seem less grandma-ish... I'm close to nabbing these this weekend....really thinking about it.... On a Caprice wagon: I've gotta get rid of the white-walls and while I like the stock wheels they kinda look like Ford van wheels... I think those chrome Sports would look cool on my Cruiser! Thoughts? -Mike
I keep seeing Ford Vans and thinking they have my Olds wheels on them.... I do not want my Olds to be associated with Ford Vans... -Mike
What size are those wheels? Are they a 16 inch? You have a LOT of good tire options when you get into a 16 inch wheel, and 60 or 65 series tires. Unfortunately, the choices of 15 inch, 70 and 75 series tires is getting very limited. Least wise in tires I would consider good handling tires. The BFGoodrich Radial T/A is an alright tire. That is, in terms of performance, about what I consider my base line. Those are what we run on Ma's 4 cylinder Volvo. On the Thunderbird, right now, I'm running T rated Sumitomo tires, and they are nowhere near what they were cracked up to be. Next time, I will be upgrading to 16s, and going with a 225/60R16 Pirelli P6 H rated tire, which I will run at max pressure.
I don't like those, Mike, but that's just me.... I'd look at them and think "truck wheels on a car....." - But most everybody else wouldn't know the difference. As for tires, you need raised white letters on the Olds..... Not a lot of true Oldsmobile alloy wheels in the big bolt pattern to chose from...
x3 They look like truck wheels to me too. But what do I know? I'm just an old whitewall grandpa who's not really up on the groovy wheel styles that the young kids are into these days. I've thought since I got mine that '71-'72 Olds Delta 88 SSIV 15" 5x5 polycast wheels with RWL tires would look really cool on a Custom Cruiser if they'll work. They'd look even better with whitewalls.
Hmmmm......only 1 available? http://www.ebay.com/itm/15x6-Oldsmo...Parts_Accessories&hash=item19cff258c0&vxp=mtr
They may look like truck wheels, but the look a lot better than the stock wheels. And i do mean a lot better!
