400 V8. 3rd seat. Didn't this sharp looking '75 Caprice Estate belong to a forum member? http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/3310181547.html
Believe I recognize this from Glide-Aways Avatar? Could be somebody else, too. It's 20 after three in the morning right now, I'm practically asleep lol.
<LI class=profilefield_category>About Glide-Aways Vehicle '75 Caprice Estate Wagon Biography NYS native, CA resident. Chevy Caprice/Impala fan! Location California Interests Classic cars, traveling Occupation Finance/H.R. Manager Signature Glide-Aways Yup, it's his wagon.....
I went back and found the original 'for sale' listing fom this spring. Glide-aways was asking $3500. It appears this seller has done nothing to improve the car and wants over $2000 more six months later. This was the original ad copy. 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Estate Wagon I cannot believe I'm doing this, but I am putting my wagon up for adoption. Here are some details: My ID: 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Estate "Clamshell" Wagon, 9-passenger Brown metalic paint with woodgrain Saddle brown interior with cloth upholstery My Possessions: 400 small block V8 (original) with 159K original miles 3-speed automatic transmission with Cruise Control Fully equipped with factory options, including: PS (with tilt), PB, PW&L, Power Driver's seat AC (converted, works but needs recharging) Intermittent wipers Rear (blower-style) defogger Dual, adjustable outboard rear-view mirrors Factory AM/FM Stereo (with recently-added hidden converter to accept iPod) Tinted windows in color-coordinating brown (excellent condition) on all windows except driver's and front passenger doors Everything is stock; no modifications (other than iPod converter and window tint, of course) Beautiful finish, all chrome pieces in full shine and accounted for Interior all original and near-mint condition (save typical crack in dash and one small wear spot in driver's seat back); interior includes era and color proper rubber "GM" floor mats Custom-made carpet dash protector Cotton ("dust" indoor only) car cover Original Owner's manual Service history, including while with original owner My History: Began life as a family hauler for a large family in Chicago, IL. Once children grew up, was primarily garaged and only taken out to bring home annual Xmas tree. Was meticulously cared for by my original owner for first 30 years. Adopted by current owner six years ago and brought out to CA. Current owner has also meticulously cared for and garaged me, even when driven to work. Since moving to CA, I am practically a daily driver; out at least three days/week. However, in the six years I've been in CA, I've only traveled 30K miles. Mechanically, I am in great shape, especially for the miles I've traveled. Everything works except the clock and fuel gage. I am very easy on the eyes and am complimented frequently on my looks. I do however have some sheet metal rust behind the rear wheels, albeit not that noticeable; my frame and floor pans are still very solid. I start up, accelerate, shift, handle and brake beautifully. Within the last 10K miles, I have donned new Hancook tires. I've also received a full engine tune-up, including wires, plugs, fluid & filter changes. My exhaust system is less than four years old and still like-new. About three years ago I received a new fan clutch, radiator and new master cylinder. About two years ago, I received a new fuel tank. I am looking for a similarly caring new owner who appreciates everything the '70's American auto industry stood for and who respects my age. Asking $3,500. Genuine inquiries only please. For more pictures and info, I can be reached either via PM here or on 310.488.0635 (during reasonable, West Coast hours).
I have talked to this guy who has it now about buying a wagon from him and all he ever said was that I better bring about $10,000 with me if I wanted one of his wagons. Im surprised that he doesnt have this one priced at $10,000.
Well if we think about this just a little bit. Lets say he gets it bought for $3,000. It cost him $1,000 to get it home. Now he has a few minor things he has done to it for lets say $500 plus title transfer and taxes here in IL. That puts the total at $4,700-$4,800. And he is "asking" $5,500?? Does not sound like he is trying to get rich. I know Mike personally and he turned me onto my 73 I have now. I think he is a great guy to deal with
(If we are talking about the same guy), I wish he would help me find my '72 a good home or swap me out one for it. I know he gets alot of these cars and seems to fancy the early 70s Estate wagons. I had mentioned about 2 years ago that I would like to swap my '72 for a running clamshell that may not has as nice of an interior, or a less desirable model, but never heard back on anything. I never could get much info out of him if its the same guy. Even sent him some pics of my '72 to put on his wagon gallery and never even posted the pics. Now that I think back, if I remember correctly, there was a '73 Caprice Estate in Georgia that was priced around $2500. I was very interested in it, but was later told it sold fast. A week later I seen it on his site priced for around $8500... IF I remember correctly. I do remember it was a huge jump in the price. I dont know him personally, so I cant say for sure. I am sure he is a nice guy, I just wrote it off as guessing that he is a busy person. As far as the price of this car, I guess he may be looking for a little extra $, everyone needs cash these days. lol. This may be his lively hood, I dont know. I guess anyone would do the same. lol.
72 Kingswood, send me some pictures of your car. Interior, doglegs, lower edges of fenders and the quarters. I want your car, maybe we can figure out a price or I can come up with a decent running wagon. Either way lets see if we can work something out. Email to reswanson@midwestbussales.com
