78 Impala tailgate handle

    Hello,newbie here. Can anyone tell me how the handle for the tailgate is attached. Mine is in my hand but will operate the gate. I would like to able to put it back on.. to stay! Thanks

    I'm pritty sure, once it's broken, it's broken. Any GM full size wagon gate handle should work for replacement though 1977-90

    Thanks for the prompt reply. does this mean entire mechanism has to replaced? Gosh, I need a manual! I will order those today.
