Yesterday I have seen a nice 1968 Ford LTD Country Squire. Going over the pictures I took, I noticed the almost odd difference between the light door trim and the black plastic of the kick panels and dashboard. Can anyone confirm if this could be original? (and the black seatbelts?) O, please keep in mind that the car was inside, so the pictures were taken with a flash. The car interior is greenish, but here it looks almost silver.

Looks right to me. My 1968 Parklane Brougham had the same colour scheme, matched to the brocade on the seat.

My parents had a 72 Mercury Marquis Brougham for 19 years. The interior was almost that color. Hard to tell due to the flash, but it looks to be the same color... "Medium Ginger". There was another one that was close to that color...something like "Medium Tobacco"...but I can't remember exactly what that one looked like...I think it was a bit darker. Because my parents' car was the Brougham model, the dashboard/kickpanels matched the interior, as did the seatbelts (including the shoulder belts, hanging from the ceiling, separate from the lap belts). IIRC, the base Marquis had black seatbelts...not sure about the dash and kickpanel, though.

Thanks for clearing that up! It really looked decent. The only points I could find (bare in mind, I didn't hear it run) were the little rip in the seat, a small dent on the left front corner, but no damage to the trim and all the fibreglass trim pieces were bare of paint, but saveable. One side the wood was a bit fading, but maybe with some polish.... No bondo and original paint as far as I could tell. Decent looking engine bay with 390. Double side seats in the back. Clean underside, although I got a bit suspicious seeing the carton under the engine, but it was clean. Hmmmmm............

I see what you mean with the dark colored kick panels against the light door panels - looks a bit odd. I'm not sure they would have produced kick panels in a light color, though - they are, after all, 'kick panels', and would tend to show every mark from your shoes if they were light. So - I believe this would have been they way it came. I would also say that the lighter colored interior is probably a bit more rare than a dark interior.

A nice find, by the way. I think the '68 has nice styling - has the covered headlamps. Last year of that particular body (although back in the 60's it seemed that Ford made major body changes in their big car EVERY year).
