    Hi kids,

Been working pretty hard lately, but just thought I'd drop in to leave a few pics from a recent local drive. You are probably most interested in the LTD, but you'll have to suffer a few extras :p

That Ettamogah beer sounds like Aussie Tequila!

I saw the pineapples and wondered if anyone ever tried growing the Mexican Agape plant. They look like a Pineapple but the leaves grow to about 6 feet high and the 'piney fruit' grows to a couple feet in height and 18" in diam. That's where the Tequila comes from.

My wife buys pineapples once in a while and cuts the shell off and lets it soak in water and a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda for a few days. Moonshine, baby, without the still. :D You sip it, sitting down.

Oh really? That sounds like something I would be very interested in. As you can imagine, I go through a lot of pineapples (actually my wife eats them before I get the chance, but moonshine? Something tells me that would be safe to leave around:D

can you PM me some details (if there is anything wrong with posting them directly) ? ie how many days, how much baking soda/pineapple skins etc.

    Much appreciated!

I'll get Mrs. Mak onto the Mexican Agave. I'm a big tequila fan (well i used to be before the kids arrived) :D

Core out the fruity center of the pineapple, after washing off the pineapple (as it comes from the garden/store). Take the shell and chop it into 1/2" to 1" squares/chunks and soak in clean, fresh water at room temperature (low 70's) for 3 to 5 days. I got confused about the baking soda with another Mexican fruit. Just fresh, clean water. You might get a bit of green mold on top. Just spoon it off without disturbing the rest. She uses a 1 quart canning jar. Makes a nice cooler with a kick. Close the jar like you would a mayonaise jar, just enough to keep the contents fresh, not sealed tight. :D

Ya know I actually haven't been in a few years, but we used to go every year when we lived in Indiana as a kid. When we moved to Texas in the early 80's we went more often because we were sooo close, only about 8 hour drive vs a 22 hour drive. But now, Grandparents and other family members have passed and everyone else lives here in Texas. I still have distant family there, but we just don't get out that way very often, but believe me when I get my wagon road worthy it's definiely gonna make the trip from Indiana to Mexico for ol' times sake!
