I have to say some of that rust, especially around the roof glass, would give me pause.

It would be nice to see someone save this car.

 

That was an oversight on my part, it is not my car, just a CL posting that I found.
I agree about the roof rust, it dampened my enthusiasm a little.

I think the $3000 asking price is high for a car in that condition. The Vista Cruisers do command some level of money, but with the rust as bad as it looks, I can't see paying more than $1000 to $1500 for it.

Plus, for all his talk about how well it drives, it looks like it sits alot, too, and out under the trees as there are all those acorns, leaves or whatever along the lower edge of the rear window. It also looks like it could stand a good washing.

 

Here in NH, it is rare to see anything of that vintage, so I can't be so critical of the rust. I do agree that the price is high.
For that price, though- I would expect it to at least be washed and some shots under the hood and of the interior. What caught my eye is that it has a front decorative plate and no NH inspection sticker, which would be displayed in the top center of the windshield. NH mandates a front plate to be displayed. So I question the duration of the owner's tenure and if he didn't buy it out of state to flip it, or found worse problems than what is stated and is unloading it.
I thought I had seen the car for sale on CL before, but I cannot be certain.

I think there are some vehicle owners out there who simply do not realize the labor effort (and cost) to repair rust like this one. They look at something like this one and believe a bit of sanding, some bondo, primer and paint will make it good as new. Wrong...............

 

Agree, but thats beyond rust, you start on that and it's cancer. Real hsrd to tell, but it kinda looks like it's been bondo'd up some time back in it's life.

Yup. That Vista Roof has had problems for a long while, and no one's fixed it correctly. Just threw some caulking, bondo or whatever at it.... My guess is that the glass channel is completely rotted out, pretty much all the way around. Wouldn't take much to kick that glass panel right into the passenger compartment. Side glass looks almost as bad.

Problem with rust is, there's no one to pay for it except you. Not like an insurance claim where all you have is the deductible to take care of. Real glad I've never lived in rust country.....

You guys in the midwest and east with your 'winter beaters'....... No such thing out here!
