I like these little cars. This one is nice looking. The one thing I've noticed about most of these that I see is that they don't rust to pieces over time. Even the one's that have sat outside for years seem to still be solid. This one DOES have some rust in the usual places...the quarters and the bottom of the gate could be worrisome. I like this wagon.:D

I like them too, but I'm really only attracted to the '64-'65's with the more modern-looking front end sheet metal. It would make a nice compact wagon, and can be upgraded very easily with a 350 Chev if necessary.

That does look like a very fair price based on what is shown.

The Chevy 283 was available from the factory in '65 and '66 in Studebakers.

Theres a difference between body cancer and rust. Body cancer is where the rust is so bad its eating the metal away. It can only be fixed by welding new sheet metal and that gets expensive. Rust can be sanded off and resprayed. The pics dont show the " rust " , I still think this is a deal.

I think for me that the real thing for me would be whether it is just rust or cancer. It looks to be in rather good condition overall. I wonder what it would cost to get it up to par, and maybe a new engine, just because. I don't know how the engine that is in there is but still I am thinking about other engine options. I would also repaint it as soon as I could. I love the retractable roof and especially the third seat. I love the front end on those. There was a white one in Joplin I would see once in a while around car show season. I saw a picture of a black one and it because a model design that grabbed my heart and hung on tight.

I agree with Fox, the later ones look too much like a Soviet Union car for me.

    wagonaires...

well we started on this forum last Nov with the purchase of a 64 wagonaire and I really liked the front end- very clean lines-but over the course of the summer in looking for parts for the 64 we picked up a 63 (the intention was to gut and use for parts) and I have grown to like the front end and chrome is very 50's looking (BTW to good to cut up so now looking for parts for both cars)...its a sickness:)

I would say I am in the 63 camp but am not violently opposed to the later ones.
