    No, they're not rare. But, they didn't last long on the shelves. Hot Wheels recently released a dark purple version too.

    I have the purple version hot wheels, I couldn't find the red one. My youngest asked why they would call a purple truck a lil RED express?...I had no answer for her :rofl2:

    Yeah, Mattel always makes several color variations of a car, so collectors will buy more! In this case, the new color variation makes no sense AT ALL!!
