We now have the '03 Explorer up on Craig's List...
    http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/3048024719.html - for anyone who's interested

Plan is to sell it then immediately start searching for something in the classic wagon range. We'll be down to one vehicle until that happens. I need the classic wagon t be a fairly dependable daily driver. No 'projects'

I'm probably going to confine my searching to the western U.S. Just too expensive otherwise. Any money for plane fare, gas to drive it back home, shipping, etc. has to come out of the total budget.

Congrats in advance on the plan! I usually limit my shopping to the western states, too. Of course for me that does mean a plane ticket, several tanks of gas, lodging for three or four nights, and that many days on the road.... But it's worth it.

    Keep us posted!

A wise decision, KK. Besides...you are on the coast where cars see no salt and rarely ever rust! I see tons of cars out there in the PNW and on down to California that are gorgeous. When I lived in California I couldn't believe all the old cars driving around that looked like new. If I could get them here to Wisconsin I could get twice the money for them. But...as you say, it's expensive, time consuming and it's risky to buy a car without a hands on look.
Good luck in your search and I will be on the lookout for a good wagon.

Great news KK. That Buick that is back on eBay would be a nice one. Interesting that it was no reserve the last time and there were bids but it is back up this time with a reserve. One wonders what games were played there.

Some really nice cars show up in Tedy's piece of heaven. Lots of seniors live there and they tend to take decent care of their low mileage vehicles. (an assumption on my part based on cars I've seen for sale on the Island)

I'd still consider it, but I figured i was getting ahead of myself a bit. Got a call from the sales guy a few days ago, trying to get me to commit to it - "What would it take to....yadda yadda yadda...." I told him $5,700. He said they had more into it than that, but he would look into it. Never heard back.

Then there's the white '89 in Albuquerque. Curious vehicle, that I think I like a bit better than the black one in Phoenix. Salesman there seemed like he really wanted my business, but now I'm going to wait until I have the cash money to really talk. If he sells it in the meantime, that's OK. There will be another come along.

Again, Chris, thanks for all your help on that black one. Without your assistance, I couldn't have made any decision at all - got 4 measly phone pics from the salesman there, which basically told me nothing. I still might consider this one too. Was looking forward to seeing your shop.....

Good luck Marshall. Somewhere I've heard money talks so wait till you are ready to talk wagons. I wouldn't care to take a long trip without being sure what I was after was in fact in the shape described.

    Unfortunately, no.

I re-did the CL ad this morning, dropping the price to $7,495. Also adjusted the Auto Trader ad to the same.

Not getting any action. I think it's the overall economy that's in the terlet around here.

Maybe I need to advertise in a bigger market - like Portland. Only problem is getting people to drive 100 miles to see the car.

Bonham Chrysler spams EVERY Craigslist from time to time. Their software sucks. Great dealer but their prices are sky high on the nice stuff and their cheap cars are just a little too rough for me.

THAT'S SAYING A LOT COMING FROM ME.

I really like the idea of that triple blue '90 Estate, but knowing it's a '90 with door-mounted seatbelts is keeping me away. '86 to '89 for me. '87 to '89 for a Caprice, I don't like the '86.
