Vehicle Inspection Service? (Wisconsin)

Well, I think I've found a wagon for sale that appears worth checking out, but it's in Greenville, Wisconsin, near Green Bay. I'm in California. Does anyone know a reputable vehicle inspection service/forum member there that can take a look and assess the car?

I signed up for the Car-Fax service on-line, and they had a little advertising blurb for it there. I checked out a couple of sample reports (visible on their website) and I was pretty impressed.

Other than possibly a member here on the forum, a company like this would be your best bet. Price seemed reasonable, too. They contract with independent appraisers all over to do the work for them.

Note: I have NO CONNECTION AT ALL with the company. Just stating my opinion based on a review of their website and materials there.

Try these folks - Vehicle Inspections, LLC, based out of Connecticut. I have a little bias here, as I do inspections for them periodically within Oklahoma. Very good outfit. They have inspectors in every State. Generally, you'll get many detailed digital pics of every area of the car, along with a detailed inspection with every bit of info you can imagine. Highly reputable firm.

I am pretty sure we have some members that are "Packers". Maybe contact one of them. Isn't Wisconsin only about the size of an average Texas backyard?

Drop-down menu gives you choices. Click on 'Members List'
That will take you to the complete listing of members, including where they are from.

You'll find maybe 6 or 7 in Wisconsin.

 

Usually the "Packers" are pretty blabberty on here. They'll prolly start announcing themselves shortly.

 

I'm in Wisconsin but am a 7 hour round trip from Greenville. What I do NOT understand is why someone from CA would want a car from WI??? Here in WI we would kill to have a rust free CA car!
If you have lived in CA all your life you may not realize what salt rust is...it's cancer. It lays in unseen areas of a car and eats away and when you see it coming through...the car is history. I've written more than a few threads on this subject. It only takes ONE time driving in the salt to start the cancer. It never sleeps.
With that said...I HAVE looked at cars for people since I was raised in my dad's gas station and was in the used car biz after my retirement and happen to be good at assessing cars. BUT...I am not an inspector with a camera. I look at a car and will tell you what I see and why I believe it is a good or bad car. It takes me only a few minutes to judge a car. This one is far away so let me ask....do you have a link to the car in question that you can PM me?(I am assuming that you don't want to show the car in the public forum.) Do you have extra pix that the seller sent that you can email to me? I will be happy to look at the pix and call the seller. Probably all I need to do if that is satisfactory to you. Or maybe I can set something up with the seller if I think the car may be worth it.
Finally, I will reiterate...IF the car is or was a daily driver all year long in Wisconsin....you will NOT want it.

I know, right? Thing is, I just can't find this car in CA--or anywhere else except, apparently, in Wisconsin. I take to heart your reminder about salt issues on a car's undercarriage with even minimal use on winter roads. Seller sent me pics of what he called "surface rust", along with other pics which I'll forward to you in a PM. Honestly, they have me thinking twice. Still, I'd appreciate your take. Car needs work, no doubt (exhaust, AC, and more). Seller says it only has 72k original miles. Wagon looks to be well-optioned and in good shape.

...but the damn rust. And no third seat. Not sure.

Keep lookin. See the snow shovel? Now tell us what year and model. I am sure the color is a give away for some but I am not sure. Heck, there may be one just down the road.

Unless this is an ultra rare model, that looks like a lot of headache to me. I bought a '66 out of Tucson and so far have been able to get off every bolt I've tries with no problems. It's was sitting in his driveway since '78. On the pictures you posted, it looks like a lot of cutoff wheels and this :banghead3: .
