I don't even fight with my wife ha ha ha! I'm with Tedy whats the point, I'm a mellow old hippie, nothing gets me too excited...except those half naked ladies.
Thats what i was afraid of, we use 3m Panel Bonding Glue on patches but it seems its not good enough for floors judging by what everyones saying. Thanks!
Proper glue job Just a few notes about the infamous "Black Glue", hope it's not too techie, but, 1.) It has it's place in auto repair. Like any new technology, rules must be obeyed.Your Paint Supplier should have the information you need and be able to give you the appropriate adhesive for the job at hand, or, go to the company's website and get info before you buy. 2.) Don't throw the instructions out with yesterdays bondo dust.:banghead3: 3.) Don't use on a exposed surface, like a mid-panel exterior joint or 1/4 panel to roof joint without a vinyl top, these need to be welded for expansion reasons. Don't use under plastic filler. You will always have a seam showing that will show up at the wrong moment. There is a big difference between a flanged joint on the perimeter of a door jamb and a joint in the middle of a panel. With a proper flange joint width and the correct adhesive the metal next to the joint will fail first just like the area next to a weld. Bend either one repeatedly and the area next to the joint will always fail before the joint if both are done correctly. 4.) Most floor pans have a brace running side to side, these should be welded. The outer perimeter should be welded at any factory flanged seam and any overlapped seams can be glued. The size of the glass beads in the adhesive determines the use and since there should be a small bead of adhesive showing at each edge of the joint, there is no place for moisture to hide or get through. Where I work (vehicle building and restoration) we use "Black Glue" on various materials and it is a perfectly acceptable repair. Hope this clears up some of the mystery.
Panel bonding is just for that. When it comes to strength, welding is the only way. Many shops I sell to weld new stuff also after using bond. Floor pans hold much of the car together, and really need welding.
