I'd like to say hello! My name is Chris. I'm a certified wagon nut. It's very cool to see that there is a forum for wagons. I presently own a 1996 Roadmaster wagon and a 1983 Malibu wagon. The Roadmaster is Light Adriatic Blue and also a WB4 model. I don't have any pictures of it. I do have a couple pictures of the Malibu. The Malibu has a 472 Caddy engine, 400 tranny and Ford 9-inch rear end with 2.75 gear. It's got a lot of torque. Maybe down the road I'll put an overdrive in the Malibu and some lower gears. It's surprisingly got a lot of torque with the road gears though. Previous wagons I've owned are a 1993 Caprice and a 1970 Sport Wagon that had a 455 Buick with all the GS trim, hood, etc. It was a very fast car as well. I think once the wagon bug bites, it sets in for good! I'll leave you with a couple pictures of my Malibu. I really like what I've seen of this place so far!
Thanks! The drivetrain was all done when I bought it 2 years ago. For the money they guy was asking, I couldn't of put it together for what I paid. All I've done was the paint, some touch-up on the interior and a new headliner. The car is really a blast to drive!
RATT thats a pretty cool MadMax wagon there !! that Caddy plant makes some serious juice...some gears and you may scare yourself!
Believe me, I've scared my best friend and myself with it a few times. The previous owner used to drag race the car. He had it in the low 13's. It's got a slightly larger cam than stock. I think estimated around 400hp. I looked it up in one of our old Motor manuals. Stock hp was around 375 and torque was 525 at 3000 rpm. It gives you a wicked grin when you get it going sideways. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
Welcome to the forums Chris. Love your wagon, it really has that "Dont mess with me" look with the matte paint and painted bumpers.
Thanks! I had my doubts about doing a flat paint job. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would! I've done the whole "shiny and perfect" types of vehicles before. Ones where you worry about getting a rock chip or driving through water puddles. I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about so much when I actually drove it to a show.
Thanks for the welcome! I really like what I've seen of the forum so far. The first wagon I was exposed to as a kid was an all white 1966 Ford Country Squire that my parents had. I think growing up with a wagon is what makes the bug bite. Wagons are just kind of "different". I get a lot of strange looks when I'm driving the Malibu. I think people do get intimidated when they see it coming down the street.
