A true iconic figure of our hobby that will be missed. Thank you for all your great contributions to the automotive world and rest in peace Mr. Shelby.
may i add to that Carroll Shelby changed the game...he invented the "tiny car ...giant engine" idea. thanks to Mr Shelby we have... The AC shelby Cobra The dodge viper the Dodge Omni GLH and GLHS the various shelby daytona's, chargers, durangos and such. the panoz AIV the plymouth prowler the shelby mustangs. and more... the parting gift he left us is the 2013 shelby 1000 mustang....yeah...street legal..and 1000hp!
We were really surprised to hear earlier this evening...I guess you kinda expect these legends to live on and on.
That is so true. I had a few friends in Hollywood that I actually liked...didn't like many of the actors or others I worked with...and, in the past several years several have passed away. I was surprised to see that, but, I guess I only have to look in the mirror to realize that life takes us to places that we never thought we would go. Carroll Shelby was, after all, 89 years old. Hard to believe. I remember people as they were when I knew them or when they were basking in their 15 minutes.
Gawd you said it SF... Growing up in that era with Ronnie Sox, Dick Clark, Dyno Don, Maude, Grumpy Jenkins, Don Knotts, and the list goes on and on... Seems like a couple weeks ago I was 30 years old... Monday morning I walk into work and I am 60 freakin' years old... And in a couple more weeks I will be 61... We never thought the world would change or we would get old like those from our parents era... *sigh*
It does have a way of sliding by while we are so busy building our lives. Got to remember to enjoy something everyday.
