I just bought a one owner 1968 Bel Air Wagon, it's got a 307 with a powerglide and it's all orginal... it's got some rust in the front floors (from it being parked with the front windows cracked) and the back drivers window is off the track, other than that, it all works... now, i need info.. where to get parts, info, the best place for how to's, and upgrade info.. i'm new the wagons, but i've had several hot rods over the years... my plan for this thing is to eventually have an LSx motor, overdrive and leave the exterior of the car completely alone.. street sleeper style... i'm an factory information hog.. so bring it on... :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Replace those floors and you're halfway there... Welcome to the forum! Marshall P.S. Nice that it's an AC car......
Welcome to the madness Mr BelAir! I see you have an AC car....missing a few parts though, gonna fix that part up? See the "cable stays" between the frame and engine in the pic just above the heater hoses? I think those were added after production, possibly a recall? Anyone know for sure and the reason for them?
Welcome. Cool wagon The passenger's floorboard reminds me of a high school buddy's 1959 El Camino. I swear it would do 150 or at least felt like it when the three 1" x 6" boards shifted under your feet and gravel flew in. I guess he couldn't afford plywood. It was still like that the day he sold it.
to the wagon train, 68wag. Nice wagon. I like the patina and I like your thoughts on the mods. Are you sure that's a 307 in there? Anyway...you will find a lot of info at impalass.com and LS1tech when it comes time to do the LS swap. Glad you found our wagon family.
1968wagon Have fun here in the forum and under the shadetree playing with your wagon. A little Turtle Wax and you'll have a nice cruiser! The previous owner of my wagon used cut up beer cans for floor patches.
Those cables were part of a recall campaign, my 69 Chevrolet Kingswood wagon had them on it's 327 engine.
