Hi guys, this looks like a great forum. I have been involved in the car hobby for over 33 years. I have had many vintage VW's , Hot rods and Leadsleds. In 2009 I completed building my lifelong dream a 32 Ford 5w coupe. I recently had a 62 VW for sale and a guy offered me a 91 Buick Roadmaster Wagon lowered, 20 '' Boss wheels, Pioneer stereo and a super clean interior. How could I turn him down. So thats how I ended up here.So far I have fell in love with it. What a drastic change from a 62 Beetle. I run a tire business with my father Tirezans Tires in Murphy NC and build cars as a hobby. Seems odd to trade for a car already customized. Anyway I hope I made a proper intro, so Howdy from NC.
Thanks guys. I think I figured out how to post photos so here is the VW and the Wagon I traded it for.
tirezan looks like you found a real VW lover to make that trade. We all seem to fall for certain vehicles. Hope you enjoy the forum and your new wagon. Many of us have a mixed vehicle love affair.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! This forum is full of helpful info.I am really glad I found it. Thanks Fannie, I think I traded a $3000 car for a $5000 car.
Thanks Rev, It was a cool Bug, but when the kid offered me the wagon for it I almost broke his arm shakeing hands on the deal. I put a set of tires on it today and got to check out the suspension for the first time. I was pleasently surprised to find aftermarket lowered springs in the rear, drop spindles in front, new ball joints, sway bar bushings, and new shocks. Turns out a Harley dealer in Waynesville NC built the car to pull his Harley. He passed away and it was sold at his estate sale. The kid traded a sweet black 63 T-Bird for it. After some homework it looks like if you took a clean 91 RMW stock and bought everything it has ,it would cost around $2000 just in modification parts, wheels and tires included. All this for a 62 VW:banana:. Oh, and the rubber biz has kept food on the table for 23 years and some change in my pocket. But mainly I am rich in the things money cant buy, a loving wife, wonderful grandchildren, some cool dogs, and a job I enjoy.
