Had to go to school for some basics on the new Dodge Dart and wow it was a whole lot nicer than I expected for a car aimed to compete with the Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla etc. No price yet but rumored to start at $15,999. The one we had in class was the 1.4 litre turbo but will be available with a 2.0 and 2.4...just maybe a SRT4 version also. I am the first to admit I laughed about it when it came out on the internet and didn't think much about it until seeing it today but also have my reserves about the new 1.4 engine since it is a little diffrent to say the least but it really was a neat 40 mpg car. Wish they would of let us drive it, guess we will see them soon enough at the dealership.
Unfortunatly no. Still hoping they bring the Magnum back which I heard awhile back was possible but you never know.
I kinda laughed when I heard they were going to turn a Fiat into a Dodge, and call it a Dart. Got a whole different impression when I saw it though. Looks very well done. My impression of it, just looking at the pictures, is that it's slightly below the Focus and Cruze, at least in size. The pricing they announced also seems to bare the out. I would put it above cars like the Chevy Sonic and Ford Fiesta though. I think putting the Dart name on it is a winner, too. About time.......
Yes, we only got to touch on each section (elec, motor & tranny) since it was all crammed into a 1 day class but they have a neat video on youtube by fiat on the dual dry clutch transmissions they are using in the Dart. I will learn a little more about them in the next few weeks as now that I completed that class I will have a few on-line classes they will make me take on the diffrent engines and the electrical bus system it utilizes since it is new technology for Dodge.
