When we moved to the NW Florida boonies there were many AM and FM country stations. Now they are rare and not near as much real country music. Times they are a changing!
Even back in Illinois the country music stations mostly switched to talk radio with goofy guys like Rush and others.:49:
Back in the late 50's -60's my favorite stations were in Del Reo, Texas and WMAQ Chicago.

If you run straight pipes without the mufflers, then you won't have to listen to the wife.

There were a few country AM stations down around Waco and one of them played only the good stuff, nothing 80s or newer, it was wonderful, until one of my kids saw the antenna cable under the dash and thought to themselves, "I'm Tarzan and I'm going to use this vine right h...um...well it came out...Daddy what does this go to?"

I think it was 1350 or 1390 or somewhere around there. Corsicana and Ennis it was strongest.

And yes, sometimes you HAVE TO ANGER the woman just to get her to shut up. Gotta make up for it sometime, that's why we book two hotel rooms, one for us, one for the kids ;)

We still have two good local AM Country-Western stations, I'm streaming one as I type. I will never give up my Classic Country!

Also, here's a pic of a recent addition to the family. My parents' dog, Red. He's my buddy!

He does look like that, doesn't he? He's actually a Rottweiler, Charpai mix. I think he looks a lot like a Dobie or a Black and Tan. He's a great little pup.

Congrats on the new fur-kid. They add so much to every occasion they are a part of.

We still have one oldies station - 50's to 70's (that's old? What am I then? Eeks) CISL 650 http://tunein.com/radio/CISL-650-s16993/ but they get weird stuff many evenings with it turning to a chat station for a while, and Saturday and Sunday's till noon from about 8:30.

We don't appear to have any older CW/Blues stations where we live that I've found. I enjoy old country - like Cat and others. As a kid our family singing group used to open shows for Hank Snow and many others in Alberta. Yep, that's how old I am. Note I said as a KID, though, just so's you know I'm not anywhere near as old as CAT or FOX or...........:whew:

I just got a few calls from old school mates back home yesterday and today. Not many of them left. They reminded me this Friday and Saturday is our 55th high school reunion. Damned those guys are old!:D
One is gonna drive the same 1946 Ford convertible he used to drive to high school and another is gonna drive his beat up old blue 56 T-Bird. Poor guys never could afford anything newer!:rofl2:
I still remember the years we took our 1957 Chevy HT to our class of 57 reunions.
