Fellow Wagoneers ! I started out on model cars around 1963. Fixed the family cars as soon as I could hold onto the tools. Modified and painted my bicycles. Cars became an obsession, and I've never known exactly why. Eat, sleep and breathe cars. I've had two uncles who helped me immensely in my auto career. Always gave me a model for Christmas, encouragement, or a job lead to better my experience. Man, what a ride! My first "restoration" was a 1962 Impala SS clone w/ 400 small block, muncie 4 speed and a complete SS fawn beige metallic interior. It's russett brown and fawn beige paint job got me my first body shop job in 1974. About 10 yrs. ago I hooked up with Bob Bennett at Bennett Coachworks (hotrodbuilders.com) and never looked back without thanking the Good Lord for my good fortune in being able to work on and drive some of the coolest cars in the world.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima I've owned about 10 wagons all told and at the moment I have 3 wagons in body off restoration, hopefully 2 Buick Centuries (1 V6 and 1 V8) will be driving later this year. The third is a 1983 Bonneville downsized wagon I'm converting into a 2 door with a 1981 LeMans front clip (just love that split grille, rubber bumper look), ElCamino doors, glass, A and B pillars, shortened 1/4's and a factory 1986 Grand Prix powered sunroof. I'm using the Motorama idea car theme. Parts from 1978-83 that GM would have used on a pre-1978 prototype concept car. It will be the G body Safari that Pontiac never made. Between these 3 cars I think I've recycled 7 used up junkers. But that's not the the whole sad story! Pictures of this trip will be posted later, I think I'm having a flashback! 1978 Buick Century Estate wgn. 1980 Buick Century Estate wgn. 1983 Pontiac Bonneville wgn. 1985 GrandPrix LE 1980 Olds Cutlass 4 dr. daily driver
How exciting for you, you sound very passionate. Glad you found you way hear although I'm not sure how you found the time! Look forward to hearing somemore of your story and the pics of course.
83ponchoJust another wagon fanatic's sad story! It baffles me why anyone in their right mind would waste their time and money in a garage messin with beat up old junk! But I'm sure you are gonna tell us sooner or later. Pictures may help for those of us who have no idea what you are talkin about!
See the pix I uploaded some pix of some of my cars past and present. Search 83poncho. I will detail each ride as I get the time. I'll start with mockups of the 2 door parts I have for the '83 Bonneville.
Thanks for the pic Ponch. You are one busy fellow. Where do you find the time? Glad you are here. Nice to see someone who can handle multiple projects and still find time to share with us.
Just remember poncho no matter how many photos you post or how many projects you tell us you are working on some members will sit doing nothing except prodding you to do more! I wouldn't do that myself!Good luck.
Welcome to the madness Poncho! You are truly a sick man, lol! One of the the worst cases of wagonitis I've seen even amongst all these folks! Cool pics in your gallery, I like the 62 Safari best of course. Good luck on your projects. Oh, almost forgot...........
