Daughter in Orange County, Chapter 3........... As we last left Krash's 22 year-old daughter, she had just got promoted to an assistant manager position with the retail company she's been with for 2+ years. A month prior to that, she had been in the hospital for a week with a intestinal problem that was diagnosed as a rare disease (that was chapter 1) Well yesterday, I noticed the posted up pics of 2 rather large tattoos on FB. There was no mention of who's tattoos they were. I innocently thought they were maybe a friend of hers..... Sort of late last evening she calls and says her car is having issues. She's in Rialto, about 50 miles from home. She was trying to arrange towing back home. (She has an AAA card, but it only goes so far....and we got her the AAA card) i tell her sorrry, can't help you with that from Oregon. She somehow got a friend's mom to put it on her AAA+ card. Fast forward to this afternoon. She calls, Needs $$$ to pay for the repairs (apparently around $600 to replace all 4 coils on her RX-8, plus some other stuff..). I was thinking we could float her a small loan, consult with wife - she tells me that those tattoos on FB were the daughter's, and she was in Rialto because that's where her tattoo artist is. Must have cost her at least a couple of bills for the tattoos. Needless to say, we told her we were unable to loan her any money right now - taxes and all (which is the truth). Somehow, she got the car back from the shop. Don't know how she paid for it........
Yep, tattoos are taking over the world. Don't ask your daughter about her latest piercings and those she plans in the future! We just discussed this on other threads. That's what us station wagon members do! You did the right thing Krash! Tattoos are not cheap and the expense of getting there and back added to it. What gripes me---- among many other things----- many low to no income people have tattoos, gold jewlery, and piercings while their kids go hungry and drive a clunker.
Speaking of Orange County!!!!!! I just got a red light camera ticket from Orange County here in Florida. Orlando to be exact. They sent three pictures and a discription of our 1955 Chevy wagon. The ticket is from Tempe, Arizona with no phone number. Seems as though I made a left turn on red during the recovery of my eye surgery in Gainesville, Fl. About 140 miles north of Orlando. Or wagon has not been out of the garage in 23 months. Co-incidentally then it was in Orange County, Orlando at a car show. Photos show the culprit. As much as I looked I saw no old station wagon in the photos. Did see an Orange County Sherriff deputy car making a left with no blinkers and a red traffic lite. This is the third ticket I have recieved because of this police car. Twice at least five years ago for running a toll booth. Finally got that one taken care of. Still the State suggests I change my tag. They are NOT the same and I bought mine 18 years ago plus paid to have it legallized. Here's the deal. The police car is a white Ford with white plastic rear bumper. Very large letters on trunk ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY with other identifing marks. A yellow license tag with an official star * 42717 with no spaces. Then there is my red 55 Chevy station wagon. Admittedly the rear is white. But with a chrome bumper and an orange 1955 Florida tag with numbers 42-717. Mine is legal with the little sticker in upper right corner. No place on those photos is any old vehicle. Still it lists my wagon. Don't those peole even check the pictures? All of the doctor and hospital crap we have going. Now I have to figure out how to take care of this stupid ticket! They make it easy. Mark the box showing how I am paying, then pay!--- I'm pi#@*^d !!!! A white Ford sedan with white plastic bumper and yellow county tag ??????
Could we get a list and written presentation of the "many other things"? Pix would be good too! You did good, KK! Only difference between you and me is that I would have told her exactly why she wasn't getting the money.
Could we get a list and written presentation of the "many other things"? Pix would be good too! I would be glad to silverfox. But there is not room or time in this forum for my presentation or photos! I also agree I would have told my daughter how I felt. In fact I probably have told my daughter a time or two how I felt. Right now I'm feelin good!
Dito and I have done to my kid. Thankfully the lesson was learned from it a few years back. I don't get the tatto craze also, my daughter 24 even has them. All and all, IMO you made the rite decition KK. Kids, weather yours or mine need to know the value of a dollar and the importance of having at least a couple months income in the bank for emergancy use only rather than living payday to payday and being screwed if something goes wrong.
Thanks. Hope you and every member is doing well. Now it's time to check up on those wagon members who are falling behinder on their restorations, modifications, and interiors. Not naming names----------
Krash we have a problem child too, so don't feel bad. My oldest son has found every lazy bone out there. He's 25 refuses to go to school or get a job. I want to kick him out but MAMA won't let me. with my health only 2 sons will get anything when I pass (no time soon) My oldest will get a $1.00 if he doesn't change his act.
hey krash i know how you feel my oldest keeps getting new ones which really hurts her mom but i bite my toungue . after all she is working two jobs and trying hard to keep her act together so their aint much to say. guess our parents felt the same way when we did some of the things we did
She's really a good kid, and I'm proud of her for making it on her own at such a young age (but she has had a lot of help from us...). She just needs to think things through a bit. She must have got her first paycheck on her new job, and decided to celebrate with the tattoos - without putting some money away first.
Yup, Kids:banghead3: My kid did the same KK (hell, I did the same), now she is 24, is managment, moved out, pays her own way......... But my girl works 5 minutes from our house........guess who came home for lunch one day while we were at work?....I did it also when I rented a house around the corner from my parents @ age 21/22
This younger generation baffles me, the majority of them feel such an overwhelming feeling of entitlement with no basis whatsoever. In turn they also seem to have no concept of priorities. I have a friend who spent his rent money gambling in Wendover, then asked me if I could help him out??? Not a chance, someone in genuine need is one thing, someone who is just stupid is a totally different matter.
