The only thing I did was remove home plate since it would be somewhat in the way of the oil fill on the valve covers I have to put on and I don't plan on using the extension tube.

OMG CE this is so sad, my heart goes out to you and your friends.

I take it, after reading the article the car driver didn't have insurance?

"Bowman also hopes to encourage lawmakers to enact a “Jesse’s law” that will require drivers to show proof of insurance when they update their vehicle registrations and renew their licenses"

We have this law here, prove of insurance has to be shown before you can renew your plates.

I'm so sorry to here about your friends but they are together now in a better place.

Here's a list of what I've done over the last month or so:

    • made cribbing boxes - was able to get the rockers are about 22" off of the ground for steering box replacement
    • steering box replaced
    • converted to manual steering
    • exhaust finished off - my first shot at doing tailpipes and I'm very happy
    • engine bay cleaned up and painted (as well as I could without removing the engine and other items.
    • touch up paint on engine
    • steering column and steering wheel cleaned up painted
    • added seam sealer to tailgate channel area, seam sealer painted
    • fabricated and installed spacer for alternator
    • shift knob, battery tray, grounding strap, hood stops, cowl to hood weatherstriping, purchased and installed
    • fixed glove box - was locked & shut - no keys seemed to work.
    • gas gauge troubleshooting - I think I've narrowed the problem down to a bad sending unit.

    Purchased:
    • shift indicator
    • new dipstick and tube
    • finned aluminum valve cover, air cleaner cover and breather

    ... and some pics...

No, he did not. No insurance, and the car wasn't registered. He's trying to make Jesse's family pay for the damage to his 1991 Chevy Caprice, too. The guy's a real scumbag. They said at the accident he was more concerned with the damage to his car than that he had killed somebody.

Thank you all. It means a lot. It's been hard losing one of my nearest friends. Here's a pic of him helping me out with my cars, something he loved to do.

Whoops, he either had the Plasma cutter out or the Welder. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Here is what I did today.

Cleaned up and repainted the Front support/structure with Gloss High solids.

When I do the clutch, I will then paint the entire engine bay gloss black.

I also got my tank today! Cleaned it up a bit, and then coated that with High solids.

I then coated it with Undercoating to protect that paint.

I also repainted the mirrors and used Stainless Allen Head screws.

You have a lot of energy, Loyale! I envy your youth.:D I know that car will look great when you are done!(y) What is that grey stuff you are using for undercoat? Looks like it goes on with a rough finish.

S10 Blazer - last night picked up a complete dash (less gauges) and a few other odds and ends. And the complete wiring harness.

Today tore in to it, got the dash about half out and a buddy called and was in need of tools ASAP as his father is out from AB helping him do some renos and they were shy the necessary tools. By the time I got them rounded up and delivered and got home we'd killed 6 hours. So tomorrow I'll finish up disassembling the dash and replacing the wire harness. What an ugly job! Also popped the drivers seat to make it easier to work in there and I guess I'll also grenade the passenger seat as well just to make it that much roomier. And the things I found under the seat that the vacuum didn't get - eeeeuuuuuuwww - the PO obvioulsy enjoy take out fries and something else I couldn't figure out what it was before it turned all green and took on a life of its own (once again - who knows what it was before Macdonald's killed it and fried it).

I do find it difficult to get in to the tight spots with no feeling in my hands one moment, the next they spasm and get searing shots of pain down the arms and the hands seize up. It makes for an interesting time in the shop. Fortunately my bride is always willing to help and she comes out and not only can reach the things I can't with her smaller hands, but she also teases me out of my bad temper frustration moods. She's an :162:.

Now, I just need to get this thing finished so I can get back to work on the Safari. It is calling out to me, haunting me...............

New Monroe's on all four corners today, Air shocks on the back, SensaTrac's in front. Backs came off easy but the fronts had to be torched. All i can say is wow, more better.

Its a Ruberized undercoating I bought at Farm and Fleet, I forgot the brand, but its good stuff.

They also make a paintable version which sets rock hard.
