Hey, I have a 1964 country sedan that I'm currently redoing. I also own a 54 ford f100 but me, my wife, 6 year old son, and 3 year old son and daughter twins cannot ride in it. So I purchased the wagon.
to the wagon train, chasin. Hey...what do all your co-workers at the GM dealership have to say about your Ford wagon?? Glad you found us here....got pix of the wagon in progress? We love pix.
Well, they do give me a hard time about the Fords. The F100 does have a small block chevy and a 700r4, But the wagon has the original 390 4v. I love old fords but I also believe part of the fun of hot rods is doing your own thing.
Oh....I'm loving the patina on that wagon! I would detail it so it stays that way. And...yeah, chasin....doing your own thing with cars is what it's all about. That is a cool looking wagon. Whatever your thing is....I hope it includes leaving it in its present patina. Nice truck!
Hi chasinhiway, you sound like a busy lad. That wagon will sure come in handy with all those babies. Good to meet you, hope to see you around the forum.
ive got a 63 CSedan....so i get the attachment nice lil truck...(even with that power plant).... ..(die hard Ford guy here) so whats the plans for the wagoon? and to our home
I just finished building and installing new floor pans in the wagon. I'm now in the process of insulating the interior. As much as I LOVE the primer look it will be getting a two tone paint job. Something in the sky blue and white line. The car had sat in a old barn since 1986. When i bought it I put a new fuel pump on it which i hooked to a gallon jug and a battery. To my amazement it fired up and actually ran (after adjusting the float in the 4v with a hammer). In my excitement I pulled it in reverse to see if it would actually move. Which it did!!! I learned a valuable lesson, check brakes before transmission. Luckily i have plenty of room around my shop.
Pontotoc Great Direction.... What was it made you put a chevy power plant in the Ford or was it that way when you bought it?
Well the thing that made me put a chevy in the ford was actually 2 things. #1- I already had the chevy running gear setting around when I started the truck and I do work at a chevrolet dealership. #2 I built it to drive not trailer or set in a garage, and regardless what others say it has been my experience that chevrolet parts are a lot more readily available than fords. Plus the interchangability. If I'm 400 miles from home and have a alternator or water pump or just about anything go bad I can stop by any auto parts store and chances are I can get a part.
