A few days ago I was thinking about how I have never had to change a tire in the rain... Last night on our way home from picking her from work, taking the backstreets, drove through a puddle, and heard a noise. The leak was slow enough that I was able to limp it to a gas station. So I guess technically I still haven't changed a tire in the rain but it was raining, I was outside, and I got wet. It was kind of fun, to be honest. Zoe fell asleep in the car while I did my work, and people looked at me with a very confused stare. People like me aren't supposed to be doing that! How could I possibly be like them? Nonetheless, it has happened. Now I got to find a replacement tire. I hate the thought of having a mismatched tire, but that is what we might have to do for now. Took the O2 sensor back. Zoe told me this morning that it seems like something si trying to tell us to get rid of the car some how. She mentioned some prices that seem more reasonable than before. Ahhh, KIAs. The first pic os of the tire (duh X) with the metal bar that dared to trifle with the likes of me, and the second is the Poor KIA the next morning when I went to check all the tires. On a side note, saw this on the way to work this morning. Sorry I couldn't get better pics but we were pressed for time.

X - you can probably plug that tire - doesn't necessarily need to be replaced, since the hole's in the tread area. Have a tire place take a look at it.
Yah I had too much paint scraped off so I had to reapply a new coat. This time I went with gun metal and a sort of deep teal/blue offset. Gun metal seems to be able to withstand a lot of torture for a cheaper nail polish. I just finished calling around and a place that just rebuilt after it burned down a month or 2 after the tornado said that they can patch my tire for $17. So that way we don't have mismatched tires and it saves us a lot of money. I will be getting that done on Friday as well as putting in a new O2 sensor.
I saw that wagon for sale last year on eBay - the damage was from the tornado that hit Joplin. Guess he didn't sell it, or someone in Joplin bought it.

I fix simple punctures in tread myself...you can get a kit at Advance Bros. But it needs to be a fairly small hole that the kit plug can take care of. Oh, and .....yeah........"Poor Kia!"
At the time he was sellling it, the only thing wrong was the body damage. I think it was mechanically sound.
Once I had a 3/8" x 6" long bolt with a big sharp square head go head first thru my tire. I was like a mile from work when I heard WOP WOP WOP of it smacking the fender. Pulled over to hear the rest of the air quickly hiss out of the tire. There was no fixing that one. There was one little service station around here that would still just plug a tire for you for a few bucks. That one burned down just a few months ago. I don't know of any place anymore who will plug a tire, they are required to remove it and patch it. But you can buy plug kits. I've never tried them but I've seen it done and it can't be that hard to do. I keep a full size spare from the junkyard in my cars. Especially driving through a snowstorm or on a sheet of ice, both common scenarios here, that little donut just ain't gonna cut it. And the floor jack, and the appropriate socket. Ok I keep a decent set of tools, and some of each fluid. Driving downstate and back all the time, sometimes in the wee hours of the night, I need to be self sufficient and so far I've done well. Over all these years I've needed coolant, had to fix a transmission line, had to fix an electrical connector, had to fix a brake line (took it down and hammered it shut so I could have 3 good brakes till I got home)....
Plug kits are a very handy thing - I've done 3 - 4 while on the car, but I also get the glue, as it makes for a better seal. Once had a piece of 3/8 rod go through the bottom and out the side of a new Polyglass tire, but didn't leak air!! Drove to the goodyear dealer, and they 'road hazarded' it!
I lost a dollar yesterday. I can describe it if you'd like. But please return it. It'll buy a couple gallons of gas or a 1/2 bag of groceries.
